I'm rounding this up from a 2.75 ⭐ because I hate the idea of rating it anything less than a 3 😭

I wanted to love this book so much more! I love CM Nascosta's monster romances but this one just did not do it for me.

Nothing was wrong with the characters themselves. Grace and Merrick were super sweet together.

For me, it was the writing style. The flow of the story just made no sense to me - it kept jumping from present moment to flashbacks (I think? Honestly, I'm still not sure). But there was no delineation between moments in time so everything ran together and it made it really hard to stay in the moment. So unfortunately, this one is a no from me.

I am still super excited for the 3rd book in this series though.

Gosh, this was such a great little story! I laughed, I cried, and I left feeling all warm and gooey inside ☺️

Something about Florence was so relatable (but I'm not sure what that says about me πŸ˜†). Described as a "chaos goblin" and "seven drunk ferrets in a trenchcoat."

After all of the craziness in the other books this ending was a bit anticlimactic πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I did like the incorporation of the πŸ™ though πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ˜† Very clever.

Gosh, Tessa Bailey just never disappoints with her sweet and spicy romances. ❀️

Big grumpy, emotionally unavailable bounty hunter meets his match in the spunky little sunshine 2nd grade teacher while on a case to determine who killed the rental property owner of a Cape Cod beach home.

The murder mystery aspect is a little camp but the romance is 😚🀌🏻

Hannah works for an executive protection agency and gets assigned to, movie-star, Jack Stapleton's case while he is in Texas visiting his sick mother.

Hannah is a woman of many talents- Advanced training in countersurveillance, evasive driving, emergency medicine, advanced firearms, and close combat. But none of this prepares her for pretending to be Jack's girlfriend for 4 weeks on his family's ranch.

This was a super cute and quick rom com. No spice but still a goofy good time.

😭 I can't believe it's over!

I absolutely adored the entire series and this final book was a wonderful conclusion to the story.

Kara and Arik were SO good. (Even though I wanted to beat Arik over the head quite a few times.) As always, the tension and steam and angst were just so perfect.πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

The groveling and reunion at the end did feel A LITTLE reminiscent of book 2 (with Nelle and Seerin) but it was still A+

Just a fabulous series, overall. ❀️ I can't wait to see what Zoey does with her spin off 😁

How was this over 500 pages?? πŸ˜†

I absolutely adore this series with my whole heart ❀️ I will admit, I was skeptical at first about Helen as a love interest but Ruby made her into such a surprising character and I loved it!

Mathias is the honorable but uptight control-freak. And Helen is the badass loveable sunshine that he needs to balance his brand of crazy.

Love the conclusion for these brothers and am so excited to see more for some characters we meet along the way ☺️

So I really enjoyed this story - it's very Beauty and the Beast-esque and I liked the development of the relationship between Tessa and Zakoar.

BUT I do understand where there is a clear divide in the reviews of this one. I see where there is a sense of DubCon considering the nature of their initial relationship and the power dynamics at play.

Tessa is working as a slave dancing in a cantina on the N3 Station. She dances in the window and is constantly seeing/fantasizing about this cyborg male who has a shop across from the cantina. She watches him and he watches her but they never interact in person. There is a change in management and the owner decides to sell off some of the slaves to make a quick profit - Tessa being one of those women. Zakoar, who has been lowkey obsessed with her, finds out and buys her from the slave trader to essentially save her from being sold off to some rando. He makes a deal with her - in exchange for some consensual time with her, he'll take her to Risda so she can be free and safe.

And then, of course, they get to know one another and the relationship develops from there.

So, totally. This one isn't for everyone.

Oh my, this novella was just so SWEET. This is a friends to lovers story that felt more gradual than the other stories (I mean, they're novellas. You can only be so gradual in 80 pages.)

I adore that Ashley is hearing-impaired (and actually learned from the author's note, that Ruby Dixon herself is hearing-impaired).

Ashley loses her hearing aids when she is abducted and is very untrusting of her situation and those around her. And rather than letting people know she's, in her own words, "flawed", she plays dumb - things like, "I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention" and "I forgot". She isolates herself and she struggles with adjusting to the farming lifestyle.

Khex, one of the Mesakkah custodians on Risda, is originally annoyed with Ashley. He, along with everyone else, thinks she's dumb and intentionally obtuse. Until he realizes her secret. Then he makes it his mission to actually get to know Ashley and in doing so, slowly starts to fall in love.

What comes after is the sweetest gradual friendship and a boat-load of mutual pining.
