I went into Guards blind, not really knowing anything about the plot, etc. So dragons were kinda a surprise. But I see why people love this one a lot. Very likable characters, a good introduction to Ankh Morkop, overall lots of fun.

I found the Conductors a bit slow to begin, but I ended up really enjoying it. It has a plot, but it doesn't seem that important and instead it is the mysterious atmospheric feel that drew me in and kept me interested. I plan to read the next one at some point.

Overall, following Moist von Lipwig has been a very good introduction to Discworld. I did read before starting that Raising Steam is the penultimate book in the Discworld, and that put a number of things into perspective. I would say that Raising Steam is very philosophical and very clever at looking at the affects of modernization. I'm looking forward to continue my meandering journey through Discworld.

Comfort Me With Apples is a bewildering fusion of many themes and stories some of which you will recognize and some of which will feel familiar, but won't be as defined. I feel like I can't say much without spoiling the book. From a technical side I think the novella's really well done and fascinatingly crafted, but I feel very uncomfortable with some of the themes and conclusion. I'll leave it at 3 stars.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Karis Campbell and enjoyed the narration.

Thanks to Netgalley and to Dreamscape Media for an Audiobook review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I rarely feel like middle books are better than the first, but Mad Ship was so well done! The characters, in true Robin Hobb fashion, feel alive and fully realized to the point that I really hate and loathe certain characters because they are awful or petty but so well written that their nastiness doesn’t feel like a plot contrivance. While it’s a long book, Mad Ship is filled with fast paced scenes and gripping plot points. I can’t believe I put off reading Liveship Traders because this has been a stunning trilogy so far. Can’t wait to finish this trilogy!

Mistborn, as always, just sucks me in. I found myself reading on my phone a lot because I didn't want to wait to read. This is probably my third or fourth read, and I can definitely tell that this was an earlier Sanderson book. Sometimes there's some convenient telling rather than showing, some plot conveniences, and Vin sometimes seems just a little too good. BUT those things are not a bother. I just kinda notice them and it doesn't distract. I know some people don't love the romance in this book, but they're a favorite couple for me. So much fun and such a great book!

I don't know why I put off Liveship. I think I was intimidated by knowing it had a whole cast of characters after being with Fitz so long last time. But wow, lots of politicking, lots of scheming, wonderfully written characters, beautiful writing, in short all the things I love! 4.5 stars!

The Gilded Wolves was fun, but I think I was looking for a brilliant heist story. I think the strengths of this are more in the characters and atmosphere, and I think that wasn't really what I was looking for from this book. I enjoyed it, and might read the sequels, but this one just didn't capture me as much as I wanted it to.

Rereading this childhood favorite does not disappoint. It’s very approachable, the writing style is easy to follow, and if you like spies, politics, and gods you’re going to love this series. I’m immediately on to the next one and that’s rare for me. 4.5 stars.

I listened to the audiobook read by Trini Alvarado and I enjoyed the narration.
