It took me a while to actually get around to reading this, in comparison to the time it took between reading Born Wicked and Star Cursed. I couldn't get it at first, because I need to use the Amazon UK (there's no Irish Amazon sadface) and I had to wait till it was available and it obviously wasn't in the library like the other two cause it was just after being published.
Anywho, I think Star Cursed ended on an EXCELLENT cliff-hanger. What the hell was going to happen between Cate and Maura? Maura had literally broken her sister's heart on purpose. And when it comes to Maura, I don't believe the whole "It's safer for him, and you." She ain't doing nothing in the good interests of Cate. One of the best and steady things in this trilogy has been Maura's character, she was never a character easily liked and she was easy to dislike. She never did anything extraordinarily bad in the first two, but there was something about her, you just knew she was capable..which she then proved by removing Finn's memory.
I always knew that Maura would be the one to die, however I was surprised that Tell allowed herself to get mind-controlled but more on Tess later. I was expecting Cate to have to use her healing powers to kill Maura but surprisingly she didn't which is maybe just as well. I know it's natural for them all to remember Maura as cheerful and rambunctious, but I think we need to remember that she still allowed some bad things to happen, despite redeeming herself all of a sudden. Plus, hello, she told Inez about Tess. Never okay
I almost expected there to be a love triangle when Cate met Alaistair Merriweather and for this trilogy to follow in the awful footsteps of so many before so I can say I'm really glad it didn't. Finn and Cate's romance was always super cute and strong, and I'm so glad they slowly started to fall back in love. It shows they were meant to be. Sigh.
The ending of the book was unexpected, in that there wasn't an overall change but a more realistic one in the Brothers who felt what they had been doing was wrong finally stood up for the innocent. Great to see the bullies get their comeuppance.
While this wasn't my favourite of the Cahill Witch Chronicles overall, it was still pretty damn good and despite everything, kept me guessing. So it got my rare five stars.

It took me a little while to get into this book, due to the style of the space logs but once I did, it was excellent. Not only was Mark Watney absolutely HILARIOUS - like laugh out loud on the public bus hilarious - but he was the type of decent guy you really rooted for.
I also found this book to be quite realistic, in the sense that if we did have astronauts going on Mars Missions, and one got stranded...the world would do everything to help. Plus, the terminology used was impressive!

Will and Tessa and Jem <3 <3 <3
The Infernal Devices is definitely my favourite Shadowhunter series and Will, Tessa and Jem are probably my favourite characters too so I'm soo happy we got so much of them in this novella. I love love love seeing Will and Tessa's marriage and how much Jem is involved as well. I think my heart melted when Gabriel mentioned how Will calls Jem for pretty much everything and omg, Tessa sitting in the pub with Will asleep on one side and holding Jem's hand. I'm dead.

Sooo can George Lovelace be my new Shadowhunter boyfriend because I think I'm in love.
I really enjoyed this first novella in the Shadowhunter Academy series. I've finally kickstarted reading them as my copy of Lady Midnight came and I realised I don't want to read it yet until I read these. Welcome to the Shadowhunter Academy follows everyoen's favourite mundane-turned-vampire-turned-mundane again Simon Lewis as he finally begins his training as an actual Shadowhunter.
I actually seemed to have blanked out the part with Simon's memory near the end of City of Heavenly Fire (reminding me that I need to reread TMI as well) so it took me a moment to grasp this new and confused Simon. But the Simon I know and love soon came back clearly to me and I loved him again. Plus George, who is my new Shadowhunter crush. As much as I love Simon, it's definitely a bit platonic, I never see him that way but hello George.
Even the first novella in this small series has brought back the humor I loved about the first few books in The Mortal Instruments that got a bit lost when things got darker in the later books. It also is getting away with humour that The Bane Chronicles has, for the most part, being falling flat with.
I can't wait to read the rest of these and then get onto Lady Midnight

Really liked this one too though I do wonder how long I can go with Simon's 'I'm not that guy' anymore sob story. I love how these novellas aren't just a bit of fun like The Bane Chronicles but seem to be full of important details like the lost Herondale line (I can only presume there will be more on this later). So far, so good.
