Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy
by Sarah Rees Brennan, Cassandra Clare
Sooo can George Lovelace be my new Shadowhunter boyfriend because I think I'm in love.
I really enjoyed this first novella in the Shadowhunter Academy series. I've finally kickstarted reading them as my copy of Lady Midnight came and I realised I don't want to read it yet until I read these. Welcome to the Shadowhunter Academy follows everyoen's favourite mundane-turned-vampire-turned-mundane again Simon Lewis as he finally begins his training as an actual Shadowhunter.
I actually seemed to have blanked out the part with Simon's memory near the end of City of Heavenly Fire (reminding me that I need to reread TMI as well) so it took me a moment to grasp this new and confused Simon. But the Simon I know and love soon came back clearly to me and I loved him again. Plus George, who is my new Shadowhunter crush. As much as I love Simon, it's definitely a bit platonic, I never see him that way but hello George.
Even the first novella in this small series has brought back the humor I loved about the first few books in The Mortal Instruments that got a bit lost when things got darker in the later books. It also is getting away with humour that The Bane Chronicles has, for the most part, being falling flat with.
I can't wait to read the rest of these and then get onto Lady Midnight
