I loved this so much!! It's such a cute story, and it feels very realistic. I can't wait to dig in to the next volume!
This should be required reading for all high school students
I've never read an anthology like this before, and truthfully I thought it was going to be a bunch of nonfiction essays, but I was pleasantly surprised by the stories! My favorite stories were "Half a Moon" by Renée Watson, "The Trouble With Drowning" by Dhonielle Clayton, and "The (R)evolution of Nigeria Jones" by Ibi Zoboi, who edited this book as well.
I've never read "Anna Karenina" or seen any of the adaptations of it, so the twists really got me! The modern retelling of a classic story gave me lots of Gossip Girl vibes. My guess is that this book isn't for everyone but I liked it. (Also, I listened to about half of this book, and the reader was excellent!)
3.5! Fun fall vibes, felt like a cheesy teen movie, but overall I liked it! Genuinely I just wish it was longer!
After seeing the movie version, I was so excited to find out that there was a book as well! I listened to the audiobook edition, which is read by the author. I learned a lot from this book about the legal victories that the Equal Justice Initiative have won in their 30+ years. HIGHLY recommend this book if you are interested in law, social justice, anti-racism, and abolition of the death penalty and the prison industrial complex!
I love reading books by comedy writers, and Ali Wong's was no different. Her ability to be laugh-out-loud funny and also deeply personal and reflective are on display in this memoir.
