Definitely was expecting more horror, but the constant unease that I was feeling while reading this pretty much sufficed. 1000% falls into the ‘weird lit’ category (which I’m usually hit or miss with), but overall a wild ride of a story that makes you want to devour it in one sitting.

It's a fine enough story, but I'm definitely more motivated to watch the show at least.
informative slow-paced

Very much intended to be read as a class textbook but still with enough personality to be enjoyable (at least in an audio format).

This really should have been a full-length work given the book’s summary. As always, Ahlborn kills it in the making the reader feel uncomfortable department, but I just needed a bit more in terms of the story itself.

As a collected group of comic issues, this is totally fine. However, as a collection of what is supposed to be highlighting Gamora as a character, this is extremely misleading. This entire collection is all about Adam Warlock with the minusculest appearance of Gamora, and it’s super obvious that this was just thrown together to boost book sales after the success of the first Guardians movie.
informative medium-paced

Great from an informational standpoint and has a lighthearted, relatable tone. Wasn't too big on the push on specific products within certain sections (they would have been better suited for its own section at the end), but otherwise this was a decent read for something that I only read for a reading challenge.

As someone who is currently pregnant and has done A LOT of work on their mental health, Abby's character was 1000% relatable. I think this book touches on a lot on the definition of "motherhood" while showcasing a wide variety of relationships that anyone can relate to. This is one of the better "unreliable narrators" that I've been exposed to in awhile and I loved the rollercoaster that Hogarth took us on in her writing.

The only word I can use to describe this book is "Blah." Our lead character was blah. The love interest was blah. I didn't give a shit about any of the side characters. Literally only listened on to MAYBE get some armchair travelling in and didn't even get that.

TBH if this weren't a part of a reading challenge, I would have DNF-ed. Wasn't a fan of the tone and our main character was insufferable. It feels like this was trying to shove as many hot button topics (ex. nonbinary-ness, ethical polygamy, age gaps, etc.) into the plot when it should have focused on the perimenopause and dealing with the trauma of a difficult birthing experience (which I thought were done VERY well). I'm actually surprised that I wasn't a fan of this book because I really enjoyed 'Kajillionaire' (written and directed by Miranda July).

As a someone whose has been working on their people pleasing issues, I relate to Elsie so much it hurts. Even though this book is more science heavy than the other books I’ve read from Hazelwood, I felt like I learned a lot about the politics of the science realm. Also, I ADORED the Olive and Adam cameo!
