I can’t tell if this is pro-weed or anti-weed but maybe it’ll be more clear if they ever turn this into a movie. Didn’t really care about the characters, but the atmosphere was definitely on point.

This was not only adorable but also had such a strong emotional aspect to it in many ways. Highly recommend watching 'The Creator' for an in-depth version of this story.

*SIGH* Honestly, this is an example of why I tend to lean more towards closed-door romance books. This has such a great travel romance aspect with a secondary story of dealing with grief and the smut just ruined it for me.

OMG this was so good! You can tell that this book was a labor of love and I can't wait to check out more from this author. Definitely recommend the audiobook version because the narrator really brought everything to life.

I don’t think anything will ever compare to ‘The Notebook’ for me, but considering how much praise this got for being just as good if not better I was definitely let down. However, it’s been awhile since I’ve read a Nicholas Sparks book so this was a nice reminder of how cinematic his writing is. I definitely want to watch the movie because I feel like they added a bit more to Dawson and Amanda’s young love story (at least from what I can tell from the production photos included in the copy I have).

Got lured in by a ‘cult-y Heathers’ description and this was a bit disappointing. Literally can’t even tell you what I read or how I feel about the characters because I just feel so meh about this book. Definitely overhyped, but still want to check out this author’s other works.

I didn’t quite attach to any of the characters like I normally would in a comic/graphic novel. However, I’m willing to give that a pass because this story is about the overall human population’s response to what pretty much becomes an illustrated allegory for the worst parts of the Covid-19 timeframe. I’ve been super weary of any type of work that puts the pandemic (or a version of it) at the forefront of the plot, but this does an amazing job at using horror elements to showcase what we as humans experienced without making me feel like this is overtly a Covid book.

"Race is a social concept, not a scientific one."
THIS NEEDS TO BE REQUIRED READING! Seriously! There are people that I would like to tie to a chair and force to read this book!
My biggest takeaways:
- Hearing in detail what the Nazis did to strip the Jews from human rights and citizenship is really fucking sad considering what is happening in Palestine and what Trump has been trying to do for so many U.S. citizens.
- I never quite understood the full detail of the 'Oscars so white' outrage until reading this, specifically, the chapter detailing how the oppressed were (and still are) used for entertainment but are still expected to make way for the dominant caste (white people) regardless of how mediocre their opponent/peer/colleague/etc. is.
- The scapegoat chapter hits hard because I can think of so many examples where people/groups were/are scapegoated.
Highly recommend reading 'Poverty, by America' by Matthew Desmond and listening to the 'Broken Harts' podcast as additional works.

WTF in the best way possible! Consistently eerie and can totally see A24 getting their hands on this in the future. Definitely making this author one of my 'to-reads!'
