Another solid from the Clements "students & teachers" catalog. The loud-mouthed 5th-grade boys and girls (known by the school staff as the "Unshushables") enter into a contest to see which group can keep quiet for 48 hours. Really enjoyed the story, as well as the smart portrayal of kids, adults, and how they respond to the silence.

I love the Little House books, and this biography started out with a bang, explaining the Minnesota Massacre and other events that shaped Laura Ingalls Wilder’s perspective and give context to her family’s place in history. It bogged down a bit for me later and I had to push through but I’m glad I did. It was interesting to read about how she became a writer, and the choices she made when deciding how to represent her family (especially her dad). Also, MAN that Rose was a piece of work.

Fun read! I checked this out on Libby while stuck in a dark hotel room waiting for my 3 little kids to settle down and go to sleep already. I enjoyed the story and the NYC setting enough that I stayed up late to finish it.
