Hooo boy where to begin
This was very good. There were some rough parts I wanted to throttle some white men but I’m happy with what happened to most of them in the end. I feel there may have been parts that dragged on more than they needed to, but they did add to the environment and the setting
Steampunk “horses” are cool too
Adding the second book to my TBR because it kind of left off on a cliffhanger

This is the second go of me “reading” this as my first go was listening to the audiobook and I didn’t care for it
It’s amazing how much of a difference reading a book the audiobook made me go ‘meh’ about
It hit a lot harder and I feel the ending was a lot better than when I heard it originally
If you can handle books that relate way too closely to the Covid pandemic, I recommend it

I’m so glad I read this. While I think it would have worked better as a physical book, the ebook I read was great
It’s a good mystery that has drawings that help to piece around the mystery
Some of the twists I was thrown off by but then everything just…made sense. And this one is one of the higher rated books I’ve read in a while

So I was never really a fan of Lord of the Flies. I know it’s a classic but it was just not a great read for me. I’ve heard pretty interesting things about this book and I wanted to give it a chance. I didn’t actually read the full book which is why I’m marking this a DNF. I did read the interviews and newspaper articles though. So I got the general idea and the crawly feeling people described when it’s recommended
For a book that took me 11 days to read I really wanted to enjoy this. I feel it took me way too long to actually read and I’m pretty sure this is currently the book that has taken the longest (don’t hold me to that)
Did I enjoy it? Yes. Could I have gone without the ramblings of the murderer? Also yes. But I do feel that those ramblings made for a really well written “this dude is crazy” murderer
I’d never seen the movie Red Dragon, so I’m actually nervous about Silence of the Lambs…for now I’m taking a break from older books because damn those take a while…

Ooooh boy okay…so this loses a full point because Bianca is fucking gross as hell. Glenn was too, but not nearly as bad because his was just “I think I have a crush on you”
As someone who grew up going to a theme park and worked at a theme park very similar to Wonderland, this was well written and easy to follow - even with jumping perspectives
I knew there were suspicions on certain characters but that last one threw me off - there were definitely some good red herrings that made me suspicious of others
All and all, a pretty decent read and only took me a few days

I’m not really sure how to describe this book. You really have to get past the prologue to get past the initial “did I just have a stroke?” feeling. It’s a fairly quick read, if not a little confusing - if for no other reason than the weirdness is just weird
It’s…one of those books you just have to experience

So this book is less so about murder/mystery and more so of how to tackle generational trauma. Just don’t expect the rug to be pulled out from under you in the end because it’s not that kind of book
Man…okay so compared to Never Lie that was lower rating than this one, the twists actually felt fulfilling and I legitimately had to stop for a bit to wrap my head around one of the twists that happened. I realized I still had a ways to go and would probably get more twists. And with how the pace was going, I just knew more shit was going to hit the fan
Recommend: Yes. But just fair warning, the mental health aspect of it is rough because it’s first person and goes through the struggles of Agoraphobia and PTSD

I listened to the audiobook edition of this book
The book alternates between Dr Hale (Adrienne) and Tricia. Adrienne is past information and Tricia is present info. I thought it was really interesting to find out what happened as the plot kind of meshed together
I also got twist whiplash because I was thinking it was one twist and turned out to be like…3 different ones. Rating it a 6 because I wasn’t the most thrilled for how it ended but it was good enough I’d recommend to others
