The blend of history and folklore is really intriguing, and I very much enjoyed the centrality ofIsisterhood. I did find the writing to be more telling than showing. The characters didn't feel developed enough to me.
For example, Isla is so determined that she is the curse and that she needs to leave everyone. While she does have a mysterious dream of her mother, it seems very sudden that she gives up her convictions. I wanted more of the emotional processing that went in to her realizing that she didn't have to sacrifice herself.

Maybe I'll return to this someday, but I didn't really like the writing style.

A lovely spicy little romance with discussions of mental health, trauma, chronic illness, and privilege. I really enjoy Talia Hibbert's writing, and this book did not disappoint!

I don't quite understand all the reviews (including the blurbs on the book) that say this book is "hilarious". It has humor, but it's also a story of an Autistic-coded woman who is constantly misunderstood, but overall an easy read and insightful to how neurodiverse characters view society.

Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold

This may not be a 5 star read for everyone, but it definitely was for me. After listening to Pete Holmes's podcast for years, it was a delight to sit down and read his book. Many celebrity memoirs can feel like a predictable "this then this then this and then fame!" narrative, but holy cow, this book is so much more. Definitely a read for anyone deconstructing Christianity or perhaps grew up religious and is now on a different journey.

Interesting stories, but I often felt the best stories were abruptly disconnected with reflections that felt more "telling" than "showing". I do want to go listen to everything Brandi Carlile has recorded now!!
