Brandt is an adrenaline fuelled smoke jumper and Shane is a cautious men and poetic singer songwriter who are brought together when Brandt unexpectedly becomes a father to Shane’s niece. These two complex characters have both experienced a far from ideal childhood which inevitably shaped them into the men they have become. Men with insecurities and stability issues who come together to raise a baby and whilst doing so learn what being a family really means.
These two wonderful main characters do have a lot of chemistry but try their best to ignore it. Once they overcome their hesitancy things really do heat up and there’s more than enough steamy times.
The author also handles in a very sensitive manner the mental health issues that the mother is going through as well as the fears that a person with a dangerous occupation, and their families members, deal with on a daily basis.
This is an enjoyable and sweet, low angst read with no major obstacle to derail a heartwarming HEA.

Great start to new spin off series.
We are once again treated by this author to an engaging plot with complex main characters and a mystery to solve.
This is told from Evan’s POV. He’s a vampire private detective and circumstances lead him to Colin, a human who has just been made aware that Paranormals and magic exist.
Even though these two likeable characters become soul bonded they are yet to build a real connection between themselves so there is only very low heated scenes. We are left with Evan and Colin and a potential for a really special relationship between them in the HFN ending. They both have “bruises on our hearts” which need to be taken into account.
I find this to be a very enjoyable read and look forward to more in this spin off series. It can be read as a standalone but I do believe it would enrich your reading experience if you at least read the the final book in the Not Dead Yet series. This would provide more insight into Evan and the other wonderful side characters.

Great start to a new series. Well written with wonderfully likeable main characters who have sizzling chemistry. So there’s some steam!
