Up in Smoke
by Annabeth Albert
Brandt is an adrenaline fuelled smoke jumper and Shane is a cautious men and poetic singer songwriter who are brought together when Brandt unexpectedly becomes a father to Shane’s niece. These two complex characters have both experienced a far from ideal childhood which inevitably shaped them into the men they have become. Men with insecurities and stability issues who come together to raise a baby and whilst doing so learn what being a family really means.
These two wonderful main characters do have a lot of chemistry but try their best to ignore it. Once they overcome their hesitancy things really do heat up and there’s more than enough steamy times.
The author also handles in a very sensitive manner the mental health issues that the mother is going through as well as the fears that a person with a dangerous occupation, and their families members, deal with on a daily basis.
This is an enjoyable and sweet, low angst read with no major obstacle to derail a heartwarming HEA.
