Not really a standalone.

This was a different slow burn paranormal romance that was part humour (courtesy of a side character) and part mystery.
Unfortunately I found that the world building was a let down. There were references to different species of supernaturals and their politics that were obviously covered in previous books. As I haven’t read those books, I felt that I was missing vital pieces of the backstory. Especially since some of the side characters, that featured prominently, were MC’s from previous books and their relationships to the MC’s in this book wasn’t fully explained.
Tanner and Chase were both very likeable characters. They had feelings for each other and after a lot of hurdles to jump they finally acted upon them.
There is minimal angst and the heat factor is low.
I would have enjoyed this more if I’d read the previous books set in this universe.

Sweet paranormal romance with some feels

Von is a construction worker who only does hookups. Silver is a sprite that made a deal with Fate and a spell caster to become human. All he ever wanted was his human mate.
Whilst doing the dishes, Von accidentally summons Silver and that summons sealed them as mates.
Silver is so sweet and Von tires hard to be honourable. They are very likeable characters that have amazing chemistry. It’s not an easy road to their HEA but they do get there.

Wonderful roommates to lovers romance

This is a well written, well paced book about two complex characters who find love with each other. There are huge hurdles for them to overcome before their forever family is formed.

Bates and Vince, two very different people, form a connection when they become roommates. That connection takes a huge amount of nurturing before the chemistry between them ignites. They are both very likeable characters and at times my heart went out to them. I was truly invested in their story and was feeling all of their emotions. The heat level turned up a notch or two once they jumped those hurdles and decided to take a chance on each other.

This is book 2 in the series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from the first book do feature in this one.

If you enjoy books with a touch of angst, a person who decides to live their authentic life, and a romantic HEA, then this is for you.
