THIS BOOK STRESSED ME THE F*CK OUT. JESUS.
If I had read this on ebook instead of audiobook, I would've finished it in a day. I was HOOKED on this. I had to force myself to only listen to this while driving to work but I would sit in my driveway and finish chapters at night because I was so invested lol.
OK, so first off: THE TITLE MISLED ME SO BADLY. OH MY GOD. I spent 85 percent of the book expecting one of the four to have done it or at least had something to do with it, which was VERY BAD for me because I got SUPER attached to all of them by the halfway point and it was going to ruin my entire life if one of them was guilty. BUT THANK THE LORD. OH MAN when I started to realize that none of them had actually done it I was SO FRICKIN HAPPY. Best reveal ever.
So ya, I LOVED these characters. Addy was the only one who really annoyed me at the beginning, but once she cut her hair I was like YESSSSS. And by the end I was totally happy crying for her because I frickin LOVE HER and she is the best. Bronwyn and Nate were SO cute until Nate decided to be a stupid idiot and almost ruin everything. But Addy came thru again and he stopped being a dumbass. I loved Cooper a lot too and did NOT see his twist coming at ALL. WOO that was a Revelation. I ALSO really loved Maeve and Ashton! I just loved everyone GOSH
I was getting super impatient since it took SO FRICKIN LONG for the four to all get together and start meeting up and talking through things, and then IT WAS LIT. Oh my god I love the four of them together and I'm so so so happy they all became really good friends and oh my god I was a mess during the last chapter dude all my babes are happy :')
Some memorable parts in this was Cooper's "oh ya know, just livin the nightmare" and Nate when his mom asked if he and Bronwyn were bf/gf and he's like "NO WE'RE MURDER CO-SUSPECTS" hahahahaha. AH-MAZING. Murder club faves.
I grinned like an IDIOT throughout the entire bonus chapter. I’d read a whole ‘nother book about these four dummies just hanging out together. I love them.

I was in DESPERATE need of a new audiobook since I was absolutely sick of listening to music in the car, and when I saw that this was available at one of my libraries, I was like, sure! I'd seen a lot of publicity around this book when it first came out and always had a passing interest every time I saw it, but I just never actually picked it up.
Confession: I actually only watched like half of Gilmore Girls. I watched all of the first three or four seasons, but after that I started getting bored and ended up skipping around for the rest of the series. I did watch all of the revival though, but was a little disappointed (I mean, it was a cliffhanger, right?!?!) But I did enjoy the parts of the show that I watched and even though I haven't seen a lot of other things Lauren Graham has been in, I like her.
I ended up REALLY enjoying this! It was a super quick read but I'm really glad I picked it up. I really liked the Gilmore Girls chapters, especially the first one when she went through the seasons of the show and talked about things that happened, fashion changes, etc. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more about Alexis Bledel in this, because I really like her a lot and would've liked to hear a little more about their relationship. I also laughed at loud at her story about 'Slap that Bass'. HILARIOUS.
I haven't read too many celeb autobiographies, which I actually want to read more of, but this is definitely one of the good ones. Also, I loved Lauren's narration (as a fellow fast talker, it was very easy for me to follow along). I was super disappointed that my OverDrive app wouldn't let me view the attached PDF of images from the book though. I got the gist of what they were, but I'll have to check out the hard copy one day and check them out.

AHH. THIS BOOK MADE ME SO HAPPY.
First off, there were a few little things that bothered me and it wasn’t perfect. I had trouble getting into this book because some of the dialogue felt a bit...off? to me for some reason I can’t really explain, and I actually didn’t like Elliot all too much in the beginning.
BUT WHOA. The second half of the book was SO GOOD. I was just grinning like an IDIOT throughout the entirety of Part 4 because everything was just so CUTE and also heartbreaking and also funny and also adorable and all the feelings.
I LOVED Luke- that precious smol bean-and Elliot ended up REALLY growing on me and I loved him as a narrator. He’s so funny. I was laughing out loud for a lot of this just based on his reactions and witticisms. I was super happy with their ending and they’re just tooth-rottingly sweet. I loved the harpies and the mermaid friend and the commander. Such a cute book and now I understand all the hype I’ve seen about this! Gah, it’s so cute.

WOOOOOOO get ready for a RANT because I. AM. FURIOUS.
So I have 1 hour left of this in audiobook and I'm still marking it as read, but I will not be finishing either the book or the series. I'm SAD. I LOVED Red Queen and I immediately added the rest of the series to my tbr but OH MAN. I'm furious.
I've been avoiding spoilers for this series like the plague since I started Red Queen and I blocked every tag on tumblr, but when I got to the (near) end of this one, my resolve broke. I was so mad that I read everything that happens in the rest of the series to see if I could even BEGIN to think about finishing it out but no. That's not gonna happen. Before I get into the last two books in the series, lemme start with this one.
First off, OH MY GOD did this book D R A G. Red Queen had me super hyped for the majority but this book was torture for me to listen to. There was SO much description and too many characters and NOTHING was happening. It was the same thing over and over again and I felt like the book was going on FOREVER. I didn't understand why so many people were annoyed by Mare in the first book, and I'm not sure if it was just the overall pacing and plot but she started to grate on my nerves in this one. There were even parts where I was just CONFUSED. Like, WHAT EVEN HAPPENED after the second run-in with Maven when he used that machine and branded her??? She literally blacked out for DAYS and then the explanation I got from it was that Shade SOMEHOW got all of them out? uhhhhhhhhh? how. what. huh.
Second, SHADE. Ugh. U G H. Shade quickly became my favorite character and I had a dark feeling that he was going to die because all my faves die and it just seemed inevitable. But GOD. I KNEW it was coming and I'm still so frickin mad. First of all, he DISAPPEARED OFF THE FACE OF THE PLANET after about halfway in and him and Mare BARELY interacted, let alone talked. But I KNEW. I KNEW when they were at the prison and suddenly Shade is there and Mare is narrating about how he's valuable and shit like that, I KNEW. And when the knife was thrown at her, I KNEW. But it still BROKE me when I heard his name. God. What bullshit. Shade single handedly saved everyone like 3 times and I literally have no idea how Mare even makes it out alive of the next two books without him to save her. And everything else would suck without Shade around.
So I was mad about Shade, but I probably could have moved on and finished the series if the next conversation that Mare and Cal had wasn't so HORRENDOUS. Her brother just died and Cal tries telling her that she should be nice to Farley because they were in a relationship??? And then proceeds to throw the whole thing about her killing the prison guards in her face?? and THEN proceeds to talk shit to her about Maven's letters???? OH. oh my god. I lost my goddamn mind.
Moving on over to the spoilers I read about the last two books: To start, I had conflicted feelings for Maven throughout this book, even though he was barely in it. I didn't LIKE him but I didn't hate him either because he is an interesting character and I could tell that Mare was going to give herself up at the end of this book so the next book would mean learning more about this dark side of Maven and all that jazz. I could see a possible redemption arc and putting Maven and Mare in another romantic situation. But then to find out that there's ALOT of weird shit that goes down (I honestly don't even know what cause it all sounds MESSY) and he ends the series trying to kill Mare with his bare hands??? Yuck.
ALSO, Mare and Cal don't even end up together???????!!!!!!! WHAT?!? They're like more than half the reason I liked Red Queen and after ALL THE CRAP that goes down they don't even end the series together?! EW. EW EW EW.
(Typing all of this out is very therapeutic, btw.)
Other quick, random character things: I did NOT like Kilorn in the first book, but he was better in this one. I actually really liked the pairing of Shade and Farley but I would NOT LIKE the pregnancy that happens after this and it's one of the reasons I don't want to continue. A lot of the spoilers I read just seemed batshit crazy to me. Like, the whole "redemption" of Evangaline and the re-engagement of Cal and Evangaline and trying to have Maven help her save Cal or something else weird was just like, WHAT. (PS I listened to this on audiobook so I have actually no idea if I'm spelling anyone's name right). Also, I learned that the next two books have multiple POVs and just like, why. Why switch that mid-series. I don't even like Cameron so I would be suffering through her chapters. And then FIVE in the last book? Ugh. No. Just thinking about it makes me want to curl into myself.
So to sum up, I'm furious and sad and disappointed that this was such a letdown and angry that it gets even more insufferable to the point where I can't finish out the series. Wah.

I’d seen this recommended all over tumblr and heard a lot of good things about it, but in the end I was left feeling a little underwhelmed. I wasn’t totally invested in the story so I didn’t love it but I also didn’t dislike it either.
I enjoyed the relationships between Evelyn and Harry, Celia and Evelyn’s daughter. My favorite husband besides Harry was Rex and I was so happy that marriage ended on god terms. I got teary eyed towards the end and the last line is a good one.
In the end, I’m glad I read this. It wasn’t my favorite of the year but it had a good storyline and interesting characters. This was also the second book in a row I’ve read with a bisexual main character, which I’m really happy to see and I hope I find some more before the year is out.

I still don't know how I feel about this series. I read the first book and it was OK, read a couple chapters of the second, and skimmed the third. I was really only interested in reading more about Juliette and Warner together, so that's legit the only reason I read this one.
That being said, Juliette and Warner like.. barely interacted in this? We got the dual POV but it seemed like it was mostly just inner feelings and emotional breakdowns on both ends. And it's weird, because I really like them together, but I don't think I like them as separate, individual characters? They just seem really young and dramatic and some of their inner monologues are cringy af. LOL idk how to explain how I actually feel about them so that's as close as it's gonna get.
There also seemed to be like, no plot in this. It was just a long drawn out thing of Juliette finding out about her past life and not really doing anything but freaking out about it. The ending was interesting but it all happened super fast and I'm not really sure what's going on. I don't even really care all that much.
I did really like Kenji in this though! He was super funny and his interactions with Warner were great. Nareeza was really cool too. I probably will pick up the next book when it comes out, so I hope there's a lot more of her. It'd be really great if Warner could get his shit together tho. That boy is clueless.

My last book of this year’s reading challenge! Woop!
I don’t know if I hit a mini book slump towards the end, but none of the last few books I’ve read have really been that enjoyable to me. Just eh.
This one was fine, but it was SO HARD to pay attention to this audiobook. It made me really sleepy and zoned out in the car and I was very confused throughout the majority of this.
I DID really like the ending for the couple though because they were super cute.
Side note: I feel like 3 Stars is my go-to rating for books that are just eh? I only really rate below three stars for books that I really didn’t enjoy and were torture to get through or the ending was really bad or something.

Ugh. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I’m officially in a weird slump where all the recent books I’ve read have just been....eh. I finished my reading challenge and re-read SOC & CK, but other than that the past 7 or so books I’ve read just haven’t really interested me. I think I’m going to just do some more re-reads until I come across a book that I’m excited about (probably Vengeful).
I'm rating this 2.5 stars. I didn’t read the first book but saw the movie, but I don’t feel attached to any of the characters in this book. It was a little boring and I was hoping for something quick that I would enjoy, but it’s been disappointing. I do enjoy the Harry Potter references, and I’ve read more books w bisexual mains this year than ever before, so I’m happy about that.
Going to re-read Vicious next before Vengeful comes out, and I’m gonna try out the ADSOM audiobooks. I’ve never listened to an audiobook I’ve already read so it’ll be a new thing! I’m excited tho. I’m going to have re-read both the SOC and ADSOM series twice this year :)
