Reread December 2023: 4.5 stars. My first review holds true, but I felt the lack of plot a lot more on this reread. Much of the storyline outside of the training and Nesta’s internal journey felt contrived and a bit less thought out than her writing in Throne of Glass. It was a little too convenient to be able to retcon the existence of the Dread Trove. However, I still loved it. What if the next ACOTAR was Mor/Emerie instead of Azriel???
First read May 2021: 5 stars. Hands down Maas’s best writing to date. Nesta’s growth and development through her grief and trauma were expertly handled and almost seemed out of place in high fantasy, which is what makes this book so beautiful and unique. I almost wish you didn’t have to read the first 3 books to understand what’s going on in this one because I want to recommend it to everyone I know. Absolutely fantastic novel.

Honestly 2.5/5 stars. Bland characters, bland plot, bland romance, bland development, terrible dialogue. But hey I read it in a day so it didn‰ЫЄt waste too much of my time.
Tied with Red, White, & Royal Blue for my favorite book so far this year. This is the sweetest love story about two authors who are each looking for a new way to see the world. I adored each character and the dialogue and banter were A+++++++. Highly highly highly recommend!
Multiple people said this was their favorite of the series and I just don‰ЫЄt agree. It had a ton of potential but fell flat in character development and storytelling. The best characters in this series are Hannah and Garrett from book 1.
Oof what to say about this beautiful story. This is a true retelling if the story of Achilles that focuses on the love between Achilles and Patroclus. (Told from Pat‰ЫЄs perspective). This story forced me to slow down and take in the prose, and Miller‰ЫЄs ability to tell you so much and paint stunning pictures in so few words was really astonishing.
By the end I was convinced I wouldn‰ЫЄt cry because I honestly just hated all of the characters, but then I ended up heartbroken by the last 3 pages or so. Absolutely incredible novel.

Things that were just okay: Nina‰ЫЄs growth as a business owner, friend, and person. The romance. The overall plot.
Things that were basically pointless: The Ainslee and Ben storyline. The Kate and Lennox stuff in literally the last few chapters.
Nice escape, cute writing, average execution.

Took me a little bit longer to get into than her first book, but overall I was once again completely entranced with this powerful, woman-led story about 3 sisters. Harrow expertly wraps in women‰ЫЄs rights, civil rights, trans rights, and gay rights throughout an equally plot and character driven story, and I love how well she lets the readers piece together the most delicate moments without spelling everything out. (That makes more sense when you read the way she writes).

Absolutely adored this book. I would read Casey McQuiston‰ЫЄs grocery lists. The love story is excellently done and the author does an incredible job getting you to fall in love with a unique and eccentric found family. It‰ЫЄs hard to decide if I like this more than Red, White, and Royal Blue. It‰ЫЄs close! And I need to read more sapphic books!!
Hands down the WORST BOOK I have read in YEARS. Maybe ever. I could go on and on and on about all the issues but here are some of the worst:
- inconsistent personalities
- awful dialogue
- confusing magic system
- 0 character development
- no world building
- not enough connection between the two main characters
- unnecessary romance
- so many afterthought anecdotes toward the end
