funny hopeful informative fast-paced

This was a quick, engaging and very affirming read. I enjoyed the wide array of sex facts and historical ideas that James covered. I also really liked that she did a whole survey of people to support some of the ideas in the book.

Sherry Thomas in her emotionally eviscerating bag for 334 pages that feel like 150 because you’re in absolute knots over these two idiots the entire time. Also lots of Actual Excitement in the form of war.

If you are a person who needs explicit on page consent for seggsy times, proceed with caution.

This was cute and short, I felt like the pacing was a little off and there were a lot of details to the story that didn’t seem necessary in such a short book BUT I would like to read more adventures from this ship full of social outcasts. I was a tiny bit confused by what time period, exactly, this was in, mainly because Francisco was a doctor and seemed to have gone to medical school but I’m not sure that was A Thing concurrent with Blackbeard. And if it was, Dr. Garcia had some very modern ideas about health and wellbeing. The medical detail took me out of the story a little bit. This cover is absolutely gorgeous!

This is a very quiet and restrained novel but I loved the focus on women in STEM and fighting to be recognized for your brilliance. I could have used a little more external conflict and a little less jealousy between the MCs, but overall this was very good and the prose is gorgeous!

I enjoyed this modern fantasy take on gangster warfare. Lee has built an interesting post-war Asian world complete with territory disputes, magic and foreign powers interfering. Layers and layers of betrayal and plot twists. The audiobook is excellent, too!!

This is a very sweet, cozy love story told through letters to and from Gavin Hartford, Charles Kentworthy and Gavin's sister, younger and older brothers and his mom. Gavin has never really thought much about romantic or sexual attraction and it takes a long time for him to realize that his new friend in London, Charles, is interested in him. The setting is a fantasy version of "Regency England" where people are openly queer and also can cast magic spells but balls and chaperones and social propriety still figure heavily into the story. I love love epistolary elements so of course I ate this up! This is very low heat and includes ace/aro spectrum MC, a bi/pan MC and multiple side characters across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum.

This is a verrrrrry slow burn that starts with a wedding at gunpoint. Adrian Hunter is a Black man trying to help his (awful) uncle with a political rival who gets caught in a scheme to discredit Camilla Worth, the missing Worth sister from earlier books.
Adrian goofs up BIG TIME in this and yet I still loved him a lot a lot and Camilla (our bi FMC) deserves the world.
