This one just wasn’t for me. I think the start of it with the

dog body mutilation/resurrection of the villain (??) from book 1

just kinda put me in a bad place. Too much horror for me this time.

Referred to a potential miscarriage as the mother’s body “rejecting a new life” nope.

Loved this concept but the writing style was not working for me. Would definitely read another book in this universe/from this author if there is a strong edit on the next one.

Too much going on!! I also really did not and could not get into the MCs relationship - they were on page together for approximately two seconds before they banged, although the book was about 75% done.

“Aloneness” is not a word, but Stacy uses it almost every page. And this one needed a tighter content edit - there are many misplaced modifiers and repetitive sentences/scenes as well as some subject/verb agreement problems and odd sentence construction that a good edit could fix.

 IDK but reading about a woman who poses as a man because her mom needed to provide an heir for her dad and who has kept up this ruse for 23 years THROUGH COLLEGE while also very much being a woman to be found out by a man who had to literally spend a decade with a wolf pack from (checks notes) her SMELL, is just oddly icky to me.

Poppy makes me want to die. I cannot be in her head for even one more page. JLA needed an editor here DESPERATELY. 60% and the main couple still not together? And what is this magic system?! UGH
