Pacing is super slow and can’t get into the characters.
Intend to return to this one - it just starts off so bleak that I couldn’t get into it when I started.
Encountered blatant on page racism that was unchallenged by the FMC who it was directed at. Also encountered body shaming, again, unchallenged by the FMC.
Graphic: Body shaming, Misogyny, Racism
I am disappointed in having to abandon this because of the blatant racism and body shaming. I would really have liked to continue reading. Alas. It’s a no from me, dawg.
I could not get past the repetitive writing style and found Crystal to be too juvenile in her view of the world. The premise of this book is exciting but the author needs a stronger edit. Too many adjectives and too much of the word “random” and “literally.” It kept taking me out of the story.
Premise was a little too out there and the formatting with larger chunks of text and no “ for dialog was very hard to slog through. Just not for me. I just really don’t believe that the government would throw sick people in an abandoned mental hospital and not even attempt to care for them. Hazmat suits exist.
