This would be better as a longer story but as it is, it really isn’t that bad. It’s perhaps a little heavy handed at times, and everything is kind of rushed. But there’s some really nice things in here. There’s a few things that, while the book comes on a little strong about, it’s not wrong. I really liked how Naomi responded to Donovan’s “you make me want to be a better man” bit. And there’s actually character arcs in here, which I really wasn’t expecting.

This was really sweet and cute. There’s quite a bit of the MC and LI dealing with queerphobia and racism (towards the MC anyway), for anyone looking into this book. I quite liked it for a short little novella, except for the ending. I understand it and I like it, in a sort of way, but even if it’s entirely unrealistic, I still wanted a happier ending for Jack and Charlie.

I really enjoyed this. Great mystery that really kept me guessing. Cute little side romance as well.
