One of those books that one should revisit in a few years after letting it swish about in your brain. Dreamy and wonderfully written.
plus it brought me joy to read even a fictional account of bad stuff happening to Cortez

Was reading some of the short stories for a book club. Not interested in the rest.

A delightful "memoir". Lady Trent's search for knowledge and start to her life as a naturalist was fun. I really enjoy this world and learning about the dragons there. Excited for the rest of the series!

I enjoyed the paintings, but the formatting and the descriptions left something to be desired.

I am glad it wasn't just people defending the artistic merit of video games, that merit was taken as a given. I really enjoyed each essay and found it gave me something to think about. Carmen Maria Machado is one of my favourite authors so her introductory essay was the one I enjoyed the most! Still I found them all to be great and this introduced me to some new authors, books, and games to check out!

I read this in the hopes it would give me a deeper understanding or a new angle to look at Battle Royale. It did not do that. Several of the essays made weird claims about the Hunger Games, implying they thought Collins was lying or had outright plagiarized Battle Royale. I have read both and think the similarities of the books are merely surface level.

Several were almost interesting, but ultimately this whole collection felt lacking.

Really approachable biography that made me fall in love with Jane Austen even more. A complete picture of the homes that were the background of her life and the people that filled those homes with her. Gave me a better understanding of the author and a new way to look at her works, which to me is a perfect author biography.

I was putting this off for a while because it was intimidating to me. On the other side now, this book is really approachable and impactful!

Super exciting and engrossing. Each of the 42 students had their own moment of the book, and Takami did a good job of giving enough info about their personality and their psyche at that time. Each person felt unique, even for the characters that only get a chapter. All the pages flew by! Each time I sat down to read, I could easily read 100 pages. Classic for a reason!
