This book was hard to read in a lot of ways. A look into the lives of content moderators and the effects their work could have on their mind. How it can be clear to see those changes in others, and impossible to see in yourself. Very dark book

The author did a fantastic job explaining the relationships between here and the creatures she meets. 
From dogs and pigs, to tarantulas and octopuses, I really gained an understanding of the creatures she met and knew. The lessons were  not directly told in most cases, which I enjoyed more. Montgomery used her voice and stories to tell you what she learned through the stories. The book made me cry and smile. I hope to read more of her books. 

A fast paced, action filled adventure to start off a series. I enjoyed the 2007 setting mixed with these alien visitors. Just enough mystery to keep you hooked and looking for more answers. 

Rereading this for the first time in years to watch the movie. I love this graphic novel. Nimona is such a delightful character and Stevenson does a fantastic job in their art at giving Nimona so much personality. The story itself does move very fast, and part of me wished for more buildup to the end.

I do wish the end would have had a reunion between Ballistar and Nimona.

Overall, fun art and a thoughtful story. 

Cute and sweet. I enjoyed the illustrations, but did find the font hard to read at times. 

Squire was such a great story with wonderful art attached to it. I loved Aiza and how she grew in the story. I did feel

that her realization of the evils of war and how badly the Ornu were treated could have been fleshed out more. It just felt like such a quick turn around from being excited to be a squire to being like “this is bad!”

I hope that there is one day a follow up to this story. I feel like the author/illustrator gave me a taste of this world and I would like a full meal. 

This book had terrible world building, like the author was even unsure how magic works in this world. All the characters are in their early 20’s to 30’s, yet they all feel like teenagers. 

Vignettes into domestic life and parenthood. Beautifully written and interesting use of first/third person.

For most of the book the narrator refers to herself as “I” and her husband as “you”. Until he cheats on her with a younger women. For a while the narrator becomes “the wife” and he’s “the husband”. At the end it switches back to “I” and “you” when the wife seems to forgive him and the family settles back into normalcy.

Audiobook was done by the author and she did a great job narrating, but there were some weird times where there seemed to be an issue in the editing or audio quality. 

This book was fascinating! Learning about Breitwieser’s life and crimes, the author really brings you into his private world and mind. You understand Breitweiser’s urge to touch and own something so beautiful (who hasn’t joked about stealing an object from a musuem?). At the same time, his selfish hiding away of these objects meant no one else could enjoy the objects, some where damage in destroyed in his care, and after his second arrest? Almost too painful to consider that loss! The author does a great job at keeping you engaged, referencing other parts of art history and art crime. Plus the way he wrote about Breitweisers crimes was thrilling, and I felt both the anxiety of it during and the thrill of doing it. 

Pretty enjoyable and I learned a lot. 

This book was beautiful written, and achingly heartbreaking. Switching between the past and the present, as Rawiya and Nour go on their parallel journeys, this book starts each country with a poem dedicated to it. The poems were shaped in the shape of the country, a format that was very interesting but honestly difficult to read digitally. This book was hard to read at times, but worth it.
