I saw another review call this a mix of an Unkindness of Ghosts and Babel, and that is accurate. This felt like an already old and well worn story, and that makes it feel like details are missing to fill out the picture. Still a really interesting read!

Beautiful book. Interesting story of familial bonds (good and bad), coming of age, and finding oneself caught in the in between. I did except there to be more magical realism (especially with the opening). Though I hate books when books don't have quotation marks (it is hard to for me to follow), I still really enjoyed the writing in this book. I love reading queer fiction that covers the depth and breadth of queerness and this did!

I read this book at breakneck speed! Couldn't put it down! Emezi shows their wonderful skills with language and continues to write sentences that catch me off guard with their beauty. Also crafted a story that kept me tense the whole time!

Fairly comprehensive overview of European/Western fashion. Really interesting and a good introduction.

Really cute and cozy book. I enjoyed seeing the younger and more restless Viv, seeing the peeks of what will lead into her future. I do think knowing the whole time that Viv would leave did kinda loom over everything to the point it could distract me from enjoying the story.
I did love the epilouge and found it so sweet!
Might be time for a reread!

Really interesting ideas of personhood
the third part has a main character who is a train for example
, what we owe the environment, and what we owe each other. The author was playing around with a lot of cool stuff and I really enjoyed the chance to get to know Sask-E and see the story unfold over generations and how the decisions made by one character ripple into the future.

It feels hard to rate the whole series and I wish that I had them individually so I could more easily discuss my feelings on each. As always, Butler creates complex and layered people and worlds. I liked how we went through the build up to the world with Patternists and Clayarks, covering several hundred years on Earth.

I devoured each book and was sad to leave the characters of each book, while excited to meet the new folks. This book covered the ethics of human breeding, how power effects folks, and what does it mean to be human (who gets to claim it and who gets to define it).

Really funny and kinda horrifying book. I've never used slack, but the book presented it in such a way I still got the vibe of what it is to experience using it for work. A really interesting commentary on work culture today.

Started the audiobook during a busy time when I wasn't feeling audiobooks. Got returned to the library, will wait for another time.
