This is supposed to be a historic recount. So why is it written like a novel?

I'm tried. I really, really tried. It just feels so wordy. "Yes. By all means move at a glacial pace. You know how much I like that." I'll probably end up finishing the other half of it at some other point. 

It's not a bad story. I just don't think it's for me. 

Too busy right now. I think I've spent too much time with this book right now. I will definitely get back to it later.
