Such a sweet, sentimental book about grief and finding hope for a better future.
Also, Pumpkin was the star of the show. More cat sidekicks in space plz!

If Hallmark was actually good (and queer), this is what it could be. Loved this one!

Okay, wow! This started off a bit slow for me and I had to switch to audio to get into it. But once I did? I was sucked in by this fun crew of misfits and the heist they embark on!
So much of this reminds me of the crime/action movies I enjoyed as a teen, featuring slick gadgets, witty lines, and an engaging chemistry between a diverse group of characters taking down an evil tech billionaire.
Yamamoto holds no punches either in when it comes to their criticism on capitalism, classism, and the slow, grinding erasure of marginalized communities. However I love that in this story there is simultaneously a sweet tone of hope, one that sings of community and the power that holds, no matter the timeline or planet.

I need to know what Varga injected into her writing because I FLEW through this! What a delight to read. For She is Wrath reminded me of the magic and joy found in reading that made me fall in love with it all those years ago.
Definitely peak YA fantasy, with solid romantic tension woven throughout. Dania’s journey was riveting, and I was never bored! The theme of revenge and what it can cost you was consistent and well resolved.
I can’t wait to see what Varga writes next! I could easily devour another book set in this world.

While initially fun and promising the type of weird litfic I enjoy, I couldn't help but feel my enjoyment taper off the further this went. We eventually drift from the oddness of a blob turning into a love interest and focus more sharply on Vi. She's an extremely unlikeable character, extremely selfish and incapable of taking accountability for her actions (until the very end at least). And yet in her final moments of character development we decide to focus on the generically handsome white male love interest?
Meh.

A moving memoir that shares such joy and hope found in k-pop while also examining it and its culture critically.
I think Kwon’s journey in leaving the church was especially impactful to me because I relate to so much of what she said. Much of my own departure from Christianity and the church followed the same path. And to hear how k-pop played a part in shaping her worldview to even expose her to different perspectives that allowed her to branch out? Well, no wonder some Christians preach so hard against secular music lmao guess they were right!
Overall this is a tender memoir (if a bit repetitious in sections) that I absolutely loved. I appreciate the intersectional thinking and Kwon’s rebuke to Americans who apply Western models of thinking and values to a Korean industry.
