Listen I love this series. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite series of all time… but this was a filler book. Other than the plotline with our favorite archer and mage the rest was really drug out and could have been significantly cut down. The writing is beautiful so that makes up for it a little bit, but not all the way.

I do like that the longer the series goes on the more it looks like the main love triangle will be resolved by turning it into a triad.
“Why would a fault her for harboring the same feelings for you as I do?” What can I say! A MAN! An unproblematic KING! I love this guy! And need content with him and Damika becoming at least friends if not also falling in love making it a proper triangle!!

I eagerly await the next book!!

Another stunning installment of the Ledgendborn series!

I usually don’t like an amnesia plot line, but it was done well here. Still a little frustrating and contrived but it worked for the plot

I’m usually pretty good a seeing the plot twists coming, but Deon has a way of shocking me even when all the bread crumbs are there.

There were a couple of transitions that I think weren’t don’t the best. Like I had to go over the a few time to figure out how we got from point a to point b. Also things got a little hot and heavy for a YA book. And again the love triangle remains the least interesting part of the series (though it’s much less prevalent in this book
given that everyone in it spends 75% or more apart from each other
) like seriously we are talking about saving women from human trafficking and modern day slavery, so I feel like flirtations can WAIT!

I felt Sel’s absence from the story WAY more than I felt Nick’s absence from the last book.

William remains one of my favorite characters. He’s just a darling! Also can we fix Alice already?! I am so stressed out for me and I miss her!

I love our new characters. The twins are lovely. So help me if anything happens to them I will cry. (Tracy, please don’t take that as a challenge! I’m delicate!) and I love being able to explore the with the root crafters more and getting to know them. Valek is such a cool character and he’s used to well for the story! I want way more of him!

That ending! The implications of it all! The chance for the story to come full circle from all the way back in Arthur’s time!! The next book cannot come out soon enough!!

This book had a really cool premise and I liked the actual prose. It had really good line writing, where the quotes in a vacuum were really good… but they just didn’t come well together in the end.

It’s something of a skill to be able to write a book where so much happens without anything actually happening. A narrative when the characters only get ONE day a MONTH for figure out the mysteries is going to drag and make the story feel disjointed. It was not a style I would have suggested.

So this is clearly an adult book, but the with little exception all the characters act like they are 16.
What do you mean you told this man that you could keep hooking up and he needed to start pursuing another girl and then get MAD when he does “oh it was just so quick” YOU immediately started romantically pursuing someone else too you hypocrite!!
the swan maidens I can give a pass because they were little kidnapped as children and raised among the fae so of course they will be weird.

The romances were so rushed and shoehorned. There didn’t have proper build up and then they were all in the second they were started.

I liked the use and subversion of mythology. This book was closer to the “weird” fae that I’m looking for. They are tricksters with morals and cultures that don’t mesh with humans. That was nice to see.

Cora was the best character in the whole book.

Honestly this book can be read as an open ended stand alone and I think that’s where I’m going to leave it. I will not be continuing with this series.

It’s really my own fault for continuing with this series after book two was so repetitive that it could have been an email. But I pushed through, mostly casue
I needed to be able to call Kai a whiny bitch if he was butt hurt about Paedyn accepting Kitt’s offer instead of dying. And he WAS a whiny bitch the entire book!!! You had so many chances you loser! You made your bed now lie in it

There was so much nonsense. The formatting was a nightmare. The way information is released was so disjointed. The characters motivations came out of left field
kitt’s plans make no sense for his actions!! Also, his decent into madness should have started all the way in the first book. He KNEW there was a chance that peadyn was his sister, and STILL tried to marry her? Also his the way he talked about his BROTHER was so oddly homoerotic. Why was there so much incest in this book?!? And then they named DAUGHTER after him? Get away from me. I hate it

Just like every other book it needed two or three more round of editing. It needed to cut at LEAST 3k words of nonsense.

The plagiarism allegations are not going away with this book.

Overall it was 50% derivative nonsense, 25% horrible dialogue, 15% Kai and Paedyn being annoying
we can’t be together, but we will flirt regularly and constantly infront of your fiancé who is also my brother but wait HOW does he know we still want each other? We’ve been so sneaky! Let’s have sex on top of my sister’s grave
, 7% actually enjoyable content, 3% incest.

Honestly my favorite of the series! It was just so much fun from start to finish! Just darling.

A little wild, a little weird! Oddly strange to return to this world and have it not be Halloween, but Yule is fun too!

Slight spoiler
any romance book that DOESNT have a third act break up is good in my book!!

I hope we get so see more of Emerald. It hinted that we’d get more of her story, so I look forward to that!

It was so cute! And I have to hand it to Nisha Sharma she managed to write a mystery where I didn’t guess “who done it” until it was revealed! She gave us the bread crumbs, the path was there, but she scattered them for expertly I didn’t see the patten until I was revealed!

Very excited to read the next book and see how this story continues!!

What WAS that? I should have listened to all my people who said this book was bad but I didn’t expect it to be THAT bad!! I really like her other series so I was willing to take a chance but nope! Thank goodness I got this from the library and didn’t wast money on it.

Did you know the FMC is flexible? Did you forget how flexible the FMC is? Don’t you worry the narrative WILL go out of its way to remind you every chance it gets!! 🙄

Also, why does she have to hide that she used starlight magic to change her hair color or be disqualified but the other girl can openly use it to make her hair pink? It’s specifically stated that it was the use of the magic that was illegal!!

Also how if the FMC both the most incompetent person to ever exist, knows literally nothing about the world around her, yet she is also the most competent person around and is the only one who can figure the puzzles that people have been working on for generations? She was Mary Sue-ing up a storm! She does read like a character that readers are supposed to project onto rather than her own person, so that’s probably had something to do with it.

It was cute. The conflict was much, MUCH more forced than in the first book, and the resolution nowhere near as satisfying. There wasn’t a lot of emotional pay off for the big reveal casue we sorta get it twice.

Loch literally tells him that he was stealing magic to pay bay for the magic he used last years and he has no reaction. Kris almost praises him for it. But when the UNCLE tells Kris information that he ALREADY KNOWS suddenly it’s a problem? Babe you knew that already! You literally already worked this out together, why are you spinning out about it NOW?!? Worst third act break up I’ve seen in a long time and that’s saying something!

Also, everything was WAY too easy in this book for everyone except Kris who is only having a difficult time because he is Kris.
Their dad just HANDS Christmas over and then never kicks up a fuss again. His run away wife takes him back the second he shows up in the tropics. Coal seamlessly takes command. They just ignore their mom. Loch gets control of his holiday back the first time he actually tries. His uncle is angry ONE TIME and then never seen again. Literally only Kris has a rough time and that’s largely self inflicted!!

I’ll never forgive Sara for the outfits in this book. They were all atrocious. Did Kris dirty every single time!
