Little did I know a groveling and character redemption arc is my fucking catnip.

Watching the character arc between Darius and Tory/Roxy has been fucking FASCINATING. They turned this evil unforgivable asshole into a redeeming character. I'm not going to lie, all of the heirs are redeeming themselves in one way or another. Seth opening up to Darcy about his envy of her and why that turned him into such a monster towards her. Caleb is actually not bad, definitely was a shithead, but turned out to be pretty damn ok. Max and G are fucking hilarious, i'm into it.

This book is my favorite so far. We see some emotional growth and maturity, characters showing vulnerability and trusting one another. The found family in this one is cementing in place, and I really hope for my heart's sake, they can all find a way to rule together. I'm thinking they set it up into some kind of weird star constellation of strength. They all serve different purposes and are stronger together.

FUCK ME for thinking Orion & Darcy would live happily ever after. They were the only two in a healthy relationship and of course the fucking stars never let anyone be happy. I'm blocking that out at the moment. Orion is on vacation, not rotting in a maximum security prison.

I need more threesome scenes where Caleb is hanging out (literally and figuratively) so we can get the star crossed lovers together. That was hot. Blindfolds and bindings are hot.
I'm a big ball of goo with D & T's relationship and 'starting over' and if they aren't together by the end of book 7 i'm going to set the series on fire. They need to go against fate, prove how much they love and are meant to be together, and that'll be it. O will get outta jail somehow, him & D will live happily ever after. Max & G. Seth & Cal could link up, they already have the hot hunting game going on.

THROW ME A FUCKING BONE. That cliffhanger ending. FUCK D's dad. FUCK HIM FUCK FUCK FUCK. I'm furious and depressed. Do I even want to hurt my heart more and go into book 6, fully knowing there's no book 7 until December?? I'm stuck in my feelings at the moment, don't rescue me.

Premise was cool: outsider heroine going to nursing school becoming part of a MC family. Mute hero, brooding and a bit of an asshole, big time protector vibes. Soft & sweet heroine. Grumpy/sunshine trope, and a MC that is all about respecting their women. Love that.

HOWEVER, my issues:
-heroine can magically read the heroes mind based off of his random hand gestures and facial expressions
-for a 26 and 35ish year old, super juvenile inner dialogue at times
-heroine was first person POV, hero was third person POV. A bit confusing
-we had the first sex scene with a condom, love that. Then condoms were never mentioned again and quickies occured. Did they magically get STD tests in the middle of the night??
-very instalove, going from zero to "I love you, you complete me" in a blink of an eye.
-the villain was a comic book character, literally and figuratively. Twirl that evil mustache.
-writing style I did not vibe with.
-dark MC romance that hints at the "bad stuff" going on, we don't really get a backstory on it.
-SECONDARY CHARACTERS SITTING DOWN AND SPURTING OFF SUPER IMPORTANT AND SUPER DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION AT THE DROP OF A HAT. need to know a characters inner working? Have a cup of coffee and Betsy will tell you their social security number, blood type, and psychological upbringing. Squint your eyes in confusion and a fucking MC PRESIDENT will start telling you CLUB SECRETS cause why not. They're family after knowing you for a month.

Had great potential, fell flat for me. Still enjoying finding a MC romance that wasn't full of treating their old lady's like shit. That was cool, rest of it was meh. Only 180 pages so not much time lost.

2.75/5 stars.

Meh...

The writing style tripped me up a lot with telling the reader everything versus showing how things will play out. I was promised some good enemies to lovers romance and this was pure enemies. The faerie world is interesting, especially with how cruel they are to humans and each other.

Only continuing on with this series to see how the love turns out between Jude and Cardan.

2.5/5 stars.

Shouldn't have kept enduring this series purely to find out the romance between Cardan and Jude.
Not for me, but that's fine.

2.75/5 stars.

Still just trying to see how this enemies to lovers situation is going to play out. Will we ever know if Jude & Cardan actually like and trust one another? The world may never know. Same issues as before with the book, with telling instead of showing all the secrets and backstories in the book.

But yet, still going to finish the series... shame on me?

2.5 stars.

Ends on a cliffhanger and I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT. So many loose ends were left, and there were some inconsistencies I couldn't get past. Beauty and the Beast retelling, hero is deformed by gems & crystals. Heroine is that red curly haired beautiful but doesn't know it, also kind and gracious, but with a backbone.

The last 10% of the book gave me heartburn with how quickly it moved. We had 90% of this slow moving story, barely a focal plot and just a lot of little day to day things. Then boom all the loose ends show and left on a super duper unsatisfying cliff hanger with nothing resolved. I don't even wanna find out what book 2 is. No for me.

3.5 - interesting plot, Des is neat, Callie's been through the ringer.

Oooo la laaaaa we have a cliffy. Let's see how this pans out.
