This book will undoubtedly be referred to for decades to come as a reflection of the treatment of women in our societies.

Despite being fiction, the events that take place in Atwood’s patriarchal novel have stark similarities to events in our world such as worrying abortion bans in America.

This is one my all time favourites and I have no doubt I’ll be reading this again and again.

I really wanted to read this after looking into influential female poets and someone told me she was a great place to start.

I didn’t always find the rhyme scheme easy to follow- some of them sounded clunky in my head but I loved her descriptive language and her nature poems.

Another beautiful book in the series. Lovelace’s honest, self-reflective poetry is moving and carries an important message of strength.

Her prose tackles reams of difficult topics with bravery and encourages people to express themselves creatively in whatever way helps them.

Additionally, the inclusion of beautiful poems from other contemporary authors brought about a sense of community and support.

Tempted to give her writing journal a go!

Great for going over key basics: either for the first time or as a strengthening reminder.
