This book completely took me by surprise- not a story I was expecting and I loved it with all my heart.

Monty is a disaster flirt who is hopelessly in love with his best friend Percy. When they go on their tour of Europe with Monty’s sister, drama and misfortune follows them at every step making for a chaotic adventure across the continent.

I could barely put this one down- it had witty dialogue, breathtaking descriptions of the cities and even an alchemical mystery in there too. I especially loved the use of each character’s weakness to further the plot- even if it had me exasperated at Monty’s antics.

A beautiful lgbt+ story with beautiful characters

I wanted to love it- I thought Esther’s character was very interesting and I loved the stream of consciousness. The opening location of New York set the book nicely and Plath’s descriptions of the girls’ lives managed to express the glamour of the city alongside Esther’s spiralling mental health.

Unfortunately, similar to when I read Great Gatsby, I think any symbolism completely passed me by. So for me, it was an average read where I spent the whole story waiting for an explanation of what was going on.

Loved the free verse in this book- will never get tired of Sarah Crossan’s writing!
I think this book covers important issues and is especially relevant in the current political climate. The ending tore my heart into pieces but what else did I expect?
Was disappointed by the representation of teenage “text speak” as usual but loved all of the characters and their murky (If not pitch black) personalities.
