A collection of engaging short stories. Some stories I found myself becoming very invested in, but others fell short. Overall, a decent, fun read!

The best book I have read this year, so far. I cried so much while reading the last section. I loved how the author recognizes the stigmas associated with mental illness and suicide. A must read for everyone, no matter your age, gender, or level of experience with mental illness.

I was required to read this book for my alternative final exam in AP Psychology. It has a good plot, but I would not read it again or recommend it to others. The author loves to give unimportant details to the reader which makes the book much longer than it should have been.

To kick off my summer reading, I dove into this nonfiction read and boy, did I learn a lot. Lembke is clearly knowledgable in her field and is able to convey the opiate addiction epidemic in terms that those of us without a medical degree can understand. I found this book to be extremely interesting and it overall helped me become more sympathetic towards those struggling with addiction. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn more about this topic.

Once again, I was captivated by the writing of Achebe. In fact, I might have enjoyed this read more than his first book in the series: Things Fall Apart. His writing captures African culture without any falsehoods and kept me engaged from cover to cover.

Was this book engaging and did I read the entire piece? Absolutely. Was this book a piece of literary greatness? No way. I understand this novel is supposed to be satire, but I can’t bring myself to give it more than three stars. Luckily for me, my next read for the summer isn’t YA and should be a little more intellectually stimulating. All I’m saying is don’t expect this to be your new favorite book due to its presumed lack of purpose.

Loved this novel, however, the ending felt rushed and did not seem to fit the rest of the book. Before reading please note there are many graphic/disturbing scenes relating to the degradation of women. It is horrible that these fictional scenes are truly some women’s realities today.
