This was a really good book. Like a really really good plot, the characters are likeable and the pacing is really great. I was eager to know more about demons and cursewriting. I wouldn't mind an other book in the same setting I think this could have a pretty good potential. This was my first book from Krystal Sutherland and I heard good things about The House Of Hollows as well so I'm definitely reading it.
Overall highly recommend if you're looking for a spooky+little gory read about witch hunters, witches and demons with lesbian rep.
What didn't work out for me was the references to pop culture (e.g a Pride and Prejudice quote) and companies (was this book sponsored by a bunch of companies?? Why do I need to know the knife is from ikea???). I dislike urban fantasy, it's not for me but I'm still glad I didn't know beforehand because I know I wouldn't have read it at all and it turned out great.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher Quill and Crow for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the setting, the prose, the characters, I absolutely loved the premise (big fan of stairs in wood stories on Reddit) so for that I think the book will definitely find its audience. It's a pretty solid debut.
There is, however, one paragraph that completely threw me off and I found it hard to concentrate on the book for several chapters ("Do you blame yourself?"). I really don't like finding """"internet culture"""" in the books I read, so it's really more of a personal issue.
I also feel that Theo was thinking too much at times and that was dragging the chapters out. I'd add that the plot was quite confusing at times and I had to reread to make sure I'd got it right, but overall it's a very good read!

The first part really dragged on, and if I hadn't seen the films, I probably wouldn't have continued-

I received this free from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Haru is a superb graphic novel that swings between a dark and colorful atmosphere as it follows the adventures of Haru, Yama and Goose. Tackling themes such as friendship and overcoming hardship, it's a story that will resonate with many people, young and old alike.
The only negative point I have, is Tha the pacing was sometime confusing and I had to take two seconds to understand the timeline.
It's a quick read, but engaging and touching. It's clear that this is just the beginning of their adventures, and with that cliffhanger I can't wait for the sequel!

The book's summary drew me in; I never say no to dragons.
I have little to say about the story, it was certainly rather slow, especially the first 200 pages, but it's still an ok read.
I did, however, have a lot of trouble with the prose and the writing in general, which I didn't connect with. This was definitely one of the reasons why I didn't finish it until recently.
I usually love second-person point of view, but here I found it didn't fit with the overall mood at all.
All in all, a book that could have done better. I don't think I'll be reading Volume 2.
