The beginning was so, so slow, I had a hard time getting into the book. However, the plot began to pick up and it was so interesting to hear more about the Grishaverse. The references to SOC made my day. The ending is what really redeemed this book for me. The plot twists I never saw coming, and I’m very excited to see how this comes to in the sequel.

This book is absolutely the most geekiest/nerdiest book I’ve ever read and I love it! There was a lot of world building at the beginning and a ton of references that piled on, and it took me some time to get through that. If you are someone who likes to cut to the dialogue and plot, it might be a bit hard having to get through and digest that. As someone who didn’t live through the 80’s, I don’t think I can appreciate this book as much as someone who did fully could. Anyways, I loved the plot and the ending, very wholesome and all around enjoyable dystopian novel.

This was such a good conclusion to the series, although it should be categorized as a novella. The initial ending left me bawling. I really liked how the author didn’t leave everything wrapped up perfectly. The plot made sense, and it didn’t feel like something the author came up with to finish the series. There’s always improvement in the dystopian world they live in, and it felt so in line with the previous books. While it wasn’t as interesting, it was nice to see Eden’s point of view and I genuinely enjoyed it. That last chapter was absolutely perfect. Super quick read!

Honestly, this book is ridiculous. But so ridiculous that I want to keep reading. It reminds me of reality tv. I think Crush has been the best book in this series so far, but this was definitely better than the first. The plot was slow going at first, but picked up more in the second half. There is so much filler, it didn’t need to be as long as it was.

Wow, this book was so much better. The teenage angst I had issues with is still there, but it definitely has toned down a lot. The plot was so interesting and adventurous, and pretty fast paced despite being such a large book. The development of the relationship between her and Hudson was exactly what I was missing in the first book with Jaxon. I'm actually excited to see where this series goes.

This is easily compared to Twilight, and unfortunately there really is no way to not compare the two. The beginning of the book was pretty similar, as well as the romance. However, it does differ from Twilight with the plot and it was actually pretty interesting. It was a little more unique and the ending had a really good cliffhanger. However, the writing style is not my favorite. The MC's thought process screams teenage angst and often uses words like "WTF, OMG, and ugh" way too much. It was a little jarring, especially the whole "I'm not like other girls" characterization. I don't particularly like insta-love, but at least there was an explanation for it at the end. Overall, it was alright. If you don't pay attention to those things, it is somewhat enjoyable. If you want a super teenage, sappy paranormal romance, this is for you.

This was a truly gripping story. The world building was pretty good, but I wish there was more we knew. There was some repetitiveness to the plot towards the middle, but I really enjoyed the slow burn romance. I loved the relationship between Lei and Wren and how it was developed. The ending was such a cliffhanger, I’ll need to pick up the next book immediately! Also, be aware of TWs. There is some sexual violence in this book and it may not be for everyone.

It was a decent book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I liked the science fiction, dystopian, and fantasy mixed appeal. Crier was an awesome protagonist and I really liked her, Ayla fell more flat to me. I wished we would get more development out of her, but perhaps that will come in the sequel. I loved the relationship between the two and slow burn nature of it which leaves be excited for the sequel. Unfortunately, it was a little too predictable for me, but overall a refreshing read.

I was initially drawn into the book with the premise, and it was interesting to hear the origin of the deal. I really wanted to love this book. As the book progressed, I felt such a lack of plot. It was just so repetitive. I couldn’t tell if the author was wanting the book to be written as a poem or novel. The prose was written well, but I had a hard time understanding the feel of the book.
I enjoyed the visits with her and Luc, and the beginning of her relationship with Henry was enjoyable to read. But overtime I just felt bored and the relationship wasn’t that interesting to me.
Unfortunately, I just never felt attached to the characters or finding them relatable. I’m normally a super emotional reader and cry in the most slightly sad moments. The ending was lost on me, and I didn’t cry or feel really emotional which was so surprising. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, but definitely not a favorites. The premise was amazing and I really thought it would like it as it’s right up my alley, it just never settled quite right for me.

Wow, this book was intense. I read it in a couple hours in one sitting. There was so much suspense and I didn’t want to put the book down. It was a great break in between the fantasy books I normally read. It’s a very tense and eerie book. The twist at the end is so in line with the writing and plot that while it makes my mind scream, it was such a good way to end the book. Don’t read this for a satisfying ending, it is meant to be a thriller. I believe I will be thinking about this book for days. Just wow.
