The Taking of Jake Livingston was good. It has lots of sensitive content for sure. It is very relevant to social issues of the time. Some parts had me upset, and others confused. I enjoyed the plot very much even if I had a hard time visualizing what was going on.

Moon of Crusted Snow is suspenseful and eerie. I liked how it spoke of giving back to the land that also gives to you (burying is the tobacco when Evan kills the moose). The tie in with retaining native culture was also beautiful. It scares me to think of how connected we are to technology and modern conveniences. If this happened, I fear it would be worse than what happened in this book. I really enjoyed this book for what it was, but I would not have minded for some more action. Great memoir that speaks many truths of indigenous populations tumultuous history. I was upset by several things the American government did, especially to the women. She has overcome several struggles and I am glad she has found strength. Great short memoir.

Sorrowland shows manipulation comes in many forms and hard to trust people. It was written really well and I could understand motivations behind Vern's actions. I had to keep reminding myself, she is but a child herself. Which accounted for her naiveness at times. I thought her kids were bad and needed home training, but then again they live in the wild, so guess that is it. I like it included historical references, which were educational and eye opening. The visions sometimes were wild, out there at times, and other times I didn't understand them. Book was definitely unique and it kept my attention. It had some really bold statements too about religion.

This story was beautifully told utilizing native american heritage,folklore, humor and suspense to get the job done. I liked the love story between Joan and her husband, although I felt the talk of sex wasn't needed for this book. The family banter was funny. Overall, an entertaining story with some hard truths.

SGJ has a unique perspective and it was fun to read. Gorey, psychotic and a bit predictable. Much fun, and short.

I really enjoyed Bloody Summer. The narrator/author shows great researching skills and almost convinced me this is a true story with all the accuracies in the facts of the area. As a fan of useless (or maybe useful) information, I enjoyed the information about the history of tigers in the USA. I have always been curious to the origins of hand clap games I played as a child. I just never looked them up. Great concept. The story touches on a sensitive topic, but is handled with grace. I appreciated that. Story has a great flare for descriptions between children and tigers. "For what is a child, but a caged tiger. Something that should never have been trapped in the first place." It also gave me Tiger King vibes for sure. Definitely worth a read. Chilling. Would make a good movie.

Seven Swans a' Shooting was short, funny, well written and had a good twist. I didn't guess til toward the end. I will just say men suck, especially when they have money. This would make a good movie.

Boostin' was such a fun read. Not my type of life but I could so visualize. I hate dead beat dads and I think portrayed this one nicely. He pissed me off that I was yelling like "you a**hole". He was too bold, and also his new girlfriend. Trash. Anyway this book was raw, lots of cussing and clowning. It was a quick read because I didn't want to put it down. I had fun and it was well written, although somewhat tame for reality. But I get you gotta get that romance in there. Can I get a Saint Nic in my life. Maybe a side piece.
