margaret rogerson can do no wrong !! this immediately became one of my favourite books.
nathaniel and elizabeth had such good chemistry, i love their banter and nathanial calling her a terror and menace all the time. the magic system and worldbuilding was incredible, particularly the descriptions of the maleficts. i think this has secured margaret rogerson as a must-buy author for me, i'll read literally anything she writes.

viv my soft butch gf ily !! this was super enjoyable and a great prequel to l&l. the pacing threw me off a bit at the start but once i hit the 40% mark i was hooked. i think the romance between maylee and viv was a bit forced, i would have preferred viv and iridia but i understand that it was more of a device for character development than anything else. i actually enjoyed the epilogue the most, seeing tandri and viv together again was so sweet and i hope we get another book with them again <3
adventurous hopeful lighthearted fast-paced

this was cute and a quick read ! i think i mostly kept reading for kaiser, because i don't really like elwood or prince hal too much but i'm still going to read the sequel when it comes out
