Read with the 'Lets Get Classical' Book Club. Enjoyed it but not my fave children's story!
A truly beautiful book, just like the first. Full of simple life lessons and heartwarming quotes, as well as the odd tear-jerking story.
Astounding. Let’s hope there’s a third in the saga.

Took me a while to get into but by about 100 pages I was completely hooked. Loved the whole story and grew a very close attachment to the two main characters.
This was one of the books on my bookshelf that I had been wanting to read for SO long and I was slightly disappointed. Whilst reading part 1 and 2 I found myself second guessing what this story was about and what was it all leading up to. It wasn't obvious what the author was doing until the final part of the book when everything made sense. Without spoiling it too much, the book really exaggerates the dangers of 'gossip' in high court at the time and how Fragile husband and wife relationships were during this time. I did enjoy it but like I said, it was obvious where the book was going until the very end and had I not been as stubborn to finish it, I probably would have DNF'ed.
4.5 stars! I truly LOVED this story and what made it even better was it was based on true events and the author, Caroline Lea, would frequently tweet items/scenery that helped her form this story. I absolutely loved it. I loved the exploration of a whole bunch of different themes; sisterhood, love, forbidden love, war, social impacts of war, foreigner on British Isles, abuse etc. It was phenomenal and the two twins who form the protagonists of this story are so easy to love. I knocked half a star off for its length as I felt some chapters were unnecessary.
Read this with the Let's Get Classical book club over on Facebook and it wasn't what I was expecting. I loved Emma and this book just left me wondering what the story was really about. I guess as her first novel, she was testing our literary devices she would later be famous for but for me, the story lacked in passion.
I think I needed to read this book exactly at the point I was reading it. The topics and methods of thinking developed and explored in this book for me completely rang true for me at a time when my body was being completely over-run by hormones and disturbing thoughts regarding body image. Glennon has such a wonderful way of writing that when you're reading this book, you feel like she is speaking to you directly so you can imagine how I felt when what she was talking about in the book in regards to society's pressures on making women feel like they have to look, act, dress a certain way to be considered a 'woman', which was exactly what I was internally debating with myself on a day to day basis. Glennon covers a whole range of topics in this book and I loved to see how her religion and sexuality shone through in every page and how she has overcome the battles with herself, her family, her friends and her community. Everyone needs a Glennon in their life, I'm just glad I have this book to fall back on when needed!
Just what I needed to ease myself out of a reading rut and was the perfect companion for my long train journey down to London. Perfect mix of comedy and romance, with important race discussions around fiction explored. Would highly recommend!
Great premise and executed so well in typical Steve Cavanagh style. I absolutely loved all the details surrounding picking and maintaining a fair and equal jury, especially because I never realised how many checks go into picking the right jury for a court proceeding. I find it amazing how Cavanagh flexes his knowledge of the police and the law, making his villains/criminals 100% more believable.
