OH MY GOD. I am literally sweating. This book is unreal. My face is flushed, my heart is racing. To say this was intense would be an understatement. I couldn't stop reading - I took a long lunch today to finish it.
People who will like this book: people who don't suffer from high blood pressure, masochists, readers who typically guess the plot twist, and anyone who believes there are at least two sides to every story.

Verity was my first CoHo book, so believe me when I tell you I had no idea what I was signing up for when I snagged this one from the library. All I knew was Colleen comes highly recommended by everyone I meet.
I read this book in 2 sittings - which would have been 1 if I hadn't had a prior engagement. It was beautiful, raw, moving, suspenseful, and real. I loved every minute of this read.
People who will love this: anyone who has ever felt forgotten or overlooked, people whose weakness is actually their strength, those who have been let down by the system, and anyone who chooses to see the good.

I cried, I learned a lot, I examined my own feelings and my own definition of love. WHAT THE HECK, I WAS EXPECTING A FEEL GOOD CUTESY ROM COM AND I ENDED UP AN EMOTIONAL WRECK.
People who will like this: anyone who has ever felt different or misunderstood, lovers of good food, anyone who has ever dreamed of a wedding dress like a cloud, and dreamers who just need a little push to believe in themselves.

One of the greatest joys in life is a book you refuse to put down and end up reading in less than a day.
Evie Dunmore created something magical when she put together the League of Extraordinary Women. Annabelle is strong, stubborn, intelligent, and someone I want to be friends with. Sebastian is moody, broody, devastating, and someone I want to love forever. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Bits were infuriating, as one would expect when dealing with the fact that women can't vote yet and are "scientifically" proven to be inferior.... Let's just say I yelled at the book over a certain dinner guest.
Anyway, this book is perfect for: supporters of Elizabeth Bennet, champions of Mr. Darcy, raging (and silent) feminists, someone looking for the ~right~ amount of steam in a romance novel, and anyone who needs to be reminded that strength, determination, and love are all very good things.

I am in love with this book, with this author, with this everything. I didn't think TJR could top Seven Husbands, but then she did. Then I didn't think she could top Daisy Jones, but then she did. Maybe it's because I just got back from an LA vacation a few weeks ago, but this is my favorite so far.
Parents, man. Hold your siblings close.
People who should read this one: obviously anyone who loved Evelyn and Daisy and all their flaws, dreamers who believe in something bigger than themselves, givers who forget that they deserve to be taken care of too, enjoyers of ensemble cast movies, beach bums at heart, and anyone who has ever dreamed of fame or anonymity or both.

I genuinely loved this one. I don't know if it was a combination of the beautiful audiobook and the fact that I had just finished Circe by Madeline Miller, and this almost felt like a sequel of sorts, or if I loved it entirely on its own. But I do know that I loved it.
The addition of Phaedra's side of things was beautiful, albeit frustrating sometimes. There were times I felt the story skipping large periods of time for the sake of brevity, but I didn't feel anything too important was passed over. I found Ariadne to be strong an observant, particularly for her time, with Phaedra also being a strong female foil. The undercurrent of slow burning feminism and rage were, well, invigorating.
People who will enjoy this one: anyone who has ever named a dog Artemis or Athena (but probably not Zues), wine lovers, those mourning a different life they could have led, both the naïve and the hardened, and cottagecore enthusiasts.

I think listening to this one was the move. The different voices helped me keep the cast of characters straight.
All in all, I really enjoyed this one. Just when I thought I knew where it was going, a new detail popped up that changed my mind and showed me I was wrong!
People who will enjoy this: Criminal Minds binge-watchers (heck Desperate Housewives binge-watchers, too), small-towners who know each town has at least one really good mystery, anyone who hates the "good guy" narrative, those who exist on the fringes of society, and people who can find small things to be thankful for.

A) This was a #bookstagrammademedoit moment
B) I am not mad about it.
The chemistry between the main characters is divine, there were twists and turns and connections and manipulations all over the place, there's a strong female friendship (complete with an irrational argument), a socially awkward love interest uncomfortable in his own skin, and *drama*.
At first it was a bit slow to pick up and get into the meat of things, but looking back I *appreciate* the background and the way it was given. I appreciate the detail and the decadence and the indulgence in the story and the set up, and WOW I love Lou. Like a lot. But by Part 2 we were moving and grooving with the story and to say I enjoyed it was a bit of an understatement. And don't get me STARTED on Part 3.
I think part of my initial reservations revolved around the fact that I mostly read this one as an audiobook, and I think I just lost some of the squishy details in the process.
I don't think I've personally every read anything like this, and that was also a major plus for me.
People who will like this one: French expats (and those who wish they were), the morally gray, believers in the power of the matriarchy, anyone attracted to towering redheads, and everyone who just needs a little escape for a while.
