This book was wonderful. I am so impressed by the world, the characters, and the heart. I want more Asiana forever, and I'm thrilled to think this is just the beginning of the exploration of this place and it's people's stories. Just wowed.
I'm not generally a big fan of reading books where I know what will happen, and Carrie is both a book that announces what the story is right from the beginning, as well as such an iconic book that you've probably heard the biggest plot points. There were still a few surprises certainly, but I think this book wasn't as well paired for my current mood upon finishing it as it had been when I started. The way the story and pieces of media exploring the events after the fact were interlaced gave a kind of clinical detached feeling, in the beginning especially, but most of the characters gained more personality as the story progressed. I guess it was just a weird mix of what I expected and not what I expected, which is not a surprising outcome for a widely read and adapted story.
Ms Marvel makes my heart burst with love. Every time I think it can't get better it somehow does.
A gorgeous and full of feelings issue, Miyazawa is definitely my favorite guest artist to do an issue of Ms Marvel. I can't wait to see where this goes! Interesting new characters FTW.
Sigh. I saw some of this story coming and was hoping it wouldn't go this way. I adore Kamala and am always sorry to see her go through trials, although I continue to find her approach to them to be refreshing and delightful.
Once I hit that point in this book where I became invested in the unfolding plot, this book was a quickly devoured instant favorite. The characters completely captured my heart, and the setting and premise are fascinating. I had so many emotions throughout this read, gripped by fear or heartbreak alternating with squees of celebration in victorious moments. Now time to wait excitedly for more to be published...
The best Dresden book so far, I really enjoyed how everything came together and learning more about the bigger bads of the world is always exciting. One to go :O
This comic is fun and cute and makes me really happy! I laughed a lot and instantly fell in love with Squirrel Girl. Ryan North is as hilarious as you'd expect, and his wit is a winning combination with this great female hero with the proportional strength and agility of a squirrel. Which, honestly, is a pretty sweet super power.
I adore Doreen Green as Squirrel Girl. I want to find all her past appearances and read them, but Ryan North's writing and Erica Henderson's great artwork really make this series unbeatable.
Fun and soooo funny, Squirrel Girl continues to delight. I'm so glad Doreen's roommate Nancy continues to be a part of the story because she's just as wonderful as our protagonist herself and they make a great pair. Totally makes me nostalgic for my first days of college and clicking fantastically with my roommates.
