This book was given to me as a gift. Interestingly written and a glimpse of cultural differences with an appreciation for Canadian living. A solid 3.5-3.75 stars.
Good suspenseful story!
Solid 3.5 stars.
This is the first novel I've read from Sarah Pekkanen even though I have a couple of her books in my library. There were some aspects of the story that I found somewhat implausible and I found her writing somewhat stilted. However, an enjoyable easy read and a solid 3 stars.
Great novel!
I enjoyed this story as it alternated between Margie's life in 1923 and Madeline's in 1999. I couldn't put it down and although the ending left me slightly bereft, I had to round up the rating from 3 1/2 to four stars. How lucky we are as women, living in our time with the choices and freedoms we have, and how we are only limited by ourselves. This story is a good reminder.
A disturbing story but a worthy read. I feel sick and sad thinking of the beautiful girls and heartbroken families who are actual victims of this crime.
This novel is not what I expected, it was a short, quick read. And it was written in a style that was quite different. I kept an open mind and at the end I give it a solid 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4, due to the underlying brilliance of the author's writing.
