These were fun to read at Halloween, but I wish one of them had been truly scary.

Let's be clear: there is no romance in this, it is very much a horror/mystery.

But that's not why I gave it two stars. The bland cast of characters, the ill-defined world, the over-powered vampires, and the flowery descriptions are why I gave it two stars.

Super religious, nauseatingly shtick-y, and every meditation was just another story about how Rolf Gates Learns From His Mistakes Did He Mention He Was In The Military And Also An Alcoholic Here's More Stories About Him Being Great At Everything Because He Embraced God.

Unfinished at 25%. I don't care about the characters, I hate road trips, and I hate when people are so bad at lying that they can't pretend they aren't talking to a goddamn ghost. Literally no one is that bad at lying.

Like D'Aulaire's but for Egypt! I loved the illustrations. It was interesting to learn that there wasn't a strict cast of characters like in Greek mythology.

Listening to the audio and gave up after 48 minutes, somewhere in Chapter 2. Her stories inspired more cringing than laughter.

Really fun, thrilling, not as scary as I expected though.
