I think it was a fun read.
I guessed the twist but it was fun getting there, and as someone who doesn’t usually read smut, it was pretty well written. The portrayal of OCD was beautifully done, and I think that the portrayal as a “shadow voice” added to the ambiance of the setting.
My only gripe is that for being set in New Orleans with a necromancer as the main character, there was an overwhelming lack of black characters, especially when New Orleans is known for Black spiritual practices.
Everything is perfect in Arcadia, or is it? The prose was fantastic, the execution of the story was fantastic. I was ready to scream the second I realized what was taking place. I really enjoyed this
This follows about 6 months after Days at the Morisaki Bookshop ends. We see more development between Takako and Wada but more than that we see her relationship with her uncle and aunt and the progression of grief. Mourning when someone is still alive is hard and mourning when they’re finally dead is harder. The last two chapters honestly had me so close to tears. It was so well written
It was a very soft and cozy read. I loved when she was in the book shop and the development of her and her uncles relationship. I just don’t understand why more than half the book focused on her aunt and uncle’s estranged relationship. I also liked the developing relationship with Wada and I hope to see more of it in the sequel
This was a very interesting insight into the standom mentality and the lengths that people go to to protect /justify their faves and their faves actions. It very much came off to me that the mc also had some type of neurodivergency that her family ignored, which pushed her further into fandom bc it was the only place she felt wanted or like she belonged.
This book of poetry eviscerated me with grief. Beautiful beautiful. I will definitely need a physical copy to really internalize it
There were several stories that I enjoyed but most of them felt unfinished and unsatisfying.
