I had a lot of fun with this mystery. I really enjoyed the way the red herrings were layered upon each other and the entire cast of characters. I haven’t read the other books but this stands alone. I enjoyed the Golden Age writing and it reminded me a lot of Agatha Christie novels
This was interesting. Not something I’d usually pick up, the imagery was outstanding and the lyricism of Seuss’s writing was beautiful
This was both extremely heavy and extremely beautiful. An excellent work of prose
I think this was a fantastic conclusion to the trilogy and honestly I’d read a fourth book with all of these characters. Again I hated the pacing but I loved how every single bit and piece fit in together to create the overarching plot. Laini Taylor you did it again
Still super enjoyable, Zuze and Mik are my favorite and I think it’s funny that Karou calls out the insta love between her and Akiva. It was a fun read but it felt like nothing was happening except when Akiva kills her dad
I haven’t read this series since I was 12. The pacing is a lot slower than I remember it being and the romance was heavily foreshadowed but in was a fantastic fantasy world and I love the magic system bc I had never and still haven’t since seen magic used in a book similarly to how it was used in this series. It still gives me the same tingles it did when I was a kid although as an adult, I see & understand more than I did back then. It was enjoyable and quick
I feel like there were some pacing issues, especially in the beginning but otherwise I really enjoyed this. I’ve always loved the idea of a multiverse from a quantum perspective and I think this was a really interesting way of exploring what it would be like to split off at every single decision you make in your life
I wish I hadn’t put this off for so long. This book felt like a warm comforting hug. I was thinking it would be similar to Days at the Morisaki Bookshop and I was wrong but not unhappily. I’m not usually fond of contemporary slice of life sort of stories but Welcome to the Hyunam-dong Bookshop broke it up very well by focusing on multiple people who work at or inhabit the bookshop, each at different places in their lives, stressing over perceived ideas of where they should be at. I needed to hear the multiple lessons imparted by this.
This is and probably always will be one of my favorite classics. It has such a comforting feeling to it and I love seeing the sisters grow up (rip Beth). The only part I disliked as a child and still dislike now is that Jo ends up with a man.
