This book was stunning and heartbreaking and beautiful and painful and surprising. I read it for a book club that isn't meeting for several weeks (I always read book club books too early accidentally haha), but this time I'm glad because I want to think about it a lot before I'll know what to say. I'd definitely recommend it though, it's very good.

Knives Out is probably one of my favorite movies, and I didn't intend to actually read the whole screenplay. But I just watched the movie less than a month ago, so it was fun noticing all the little things that are different from it. It's really interesting reading things in this format.

Okay, wow. I enjoyed this book a lot more than it seems other people do. It's my favorite college professor's favorite book, and she regularly brought it up in classes, so it's been on my tbr list for years. I didn't know how long or intricate it was, but I'm glad I didn't know anything really going in.

Halfway through I had to make a list of characters I actually liked, since several of them fell into a category of something like "I root for them in spite of not really liking them." But it all progressed in a much better way than I thought it would.

This book absolutely took my breath away. Like, I'm not exaggerating when I say I gasped out loud, alone, more times than I can count. The poems in this book are absolutely amazing and defy description. I'm kicking myself for buying this book months ago and waiting until now to read it, but also it feels like now was the perfect time for me to experience it. Topaz Winters is incredible.

This book is powerful, beautifully written, and both validating and infuriating. I had to stop reading at times because I was so angry, and of course it made me cry (though not as much as I would have anticipated, honestly). I got to listen to Chanel Miller read the book out loud, and I'm so glad I did. She reads it more slowly than I would have read a physical copy, and I'm grateful for spending the extra time sitting with this book and what happens in it. It made me realize things about some loved ones that I'd never considered before, and it made me realize things about myself, too. I'd recommend this book to anyone (and also recommend you follow @chanel_miller on Instagram because her comics are funny and inspirational and I just love the things she creates).

I haven't read this book since I was a child, but I still think of it from time to time. It's one of the first books I think of when considering how reading teaches children empathy.

I loved this book! It takes you through the stages of grief in a relationship in the most beautiful way possible. The "Acceptance" section near the end was my favorite--the growth and healing in this book is wonderful to experience.
