I'm sorry; I was really excited to read this, especially an ARC. I reread Wicked recently and liked it a lot, and was interested in continuing with the rest of the series. But Wicked was written thirty years ago, so I tried to give the author the benefit of the doubt. Surely if it had been written today, there wouldn't be all the racism and ableism. But I'm only a few chapters into Elphie and I just don't want to read it anymore. There's already enough questionable or concerning bits to the point where I'm worried I gave too much benefit of the doubt with the original book. I'm sure if I'd finished it I would have enjoyed a lot of it, and I'm sorry to not get more insight into her childhood and upbringing. But it was soured for me too early and I'm just not interested anymore.
Thank you to Netgalley and William Morrow for the chance to read and review this ARC. I really do mean that; this is the first ARC I've ever DNF'd.

I was prepared to accept an explanation for why the guy was being rude to her, but his best man toast completely turned me off. Even if he's not a dick in the way she thinks, he's still a dick in a way I don't want to read about. I looked at some reviews to make sure I wasn't DNFing too early, but yeah. This feels very gross basic straight people culture romance to me and I have zero interest in continuing it, regardless of how good the rest of it might be.
Just switching to the ebook version instead of the print version, due to how much time I have to read ebooks at the moment! Nothing at all against the book, I'm reading it already right now
Idk, I just wasn't very into it, and I wasn't reading it for any particular reason. Once I considered DNFing I looked at reviews and didn't feel like I'd end up thinking it was worth my time.
Honestly I just couldn't get into it. The writing isn't my style, as it felt like it couldn't quite decide how close it was to the characters' experiences. After that I decided to read the reviews to decide if it was worth it, and it just doesn't seem like a book worth putting my time into. I didn't hate it, I just wasn't into it.
Graphic: Classism
I was given a preview ARC on Netgalley, so I can't finish it yet--but I want to!! I loved the first three books in this series and this one seems headed in a very interesting direction. I can't wait until I can pick back up where I left off.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the chance to read and review this (preview) ARC.

Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Sexual content, Murder
I'm just switching to the audiobook version and I couldn't figure out a better way to track that than to DNF this one. I need to finish the book in time for a book club I'm hosting, and my only chance of doing that is listening to the audiobook.
It was kind of interesting but I just couldn't get into it. I got halfway through and then lost interest and had too many other books I wanted to read more.
I almost never DNF books, but I just couldn't get into this. I didn't hate it or anything; I just don't want to read it anymore.
I don't know much about star wars and I only read Hank Green's story because I'm a fan of him and his writing haha. It was pretty good!
