funny fast-paced

I thought this was really funny when I was a kid, and I found some of the lore of the creatures interesting. I still love rereading the Harry Potter series, but I didn't keep this book when going through my childhood books, so, make of that what you will.

I hated this book/play/script/whatever. I've heard the actual performance is amazing, and honestly I really wanted to see it before I decided I shouldn't support J.K. Rowling in any monetary way. But I do believe that the play is probably very good when seen live; however, this written version is just *so* bad.

I love these books but J.K. Rowling is garbage, and there are some issues with the books (fatphobia, racism, transphobia, sexism, etc.). I would recommend reading them because I do love them, but keep in mind that the author is terrible, and also don't support her financially. Get used copies, borrow them from friends, etc.

Edit: Also, now that I'm rereading them for the first time in a few years, I'm not sure I actually would recommend them to anyone new; if you don't have that preexisting attachment to them, and you're aware of how hurtful she is and how those views definitely impact the books, then I'm really not sure they'd have the same impact at all.

I've loved Trista Mateer's writing for years, but I didn't start reading her work until a while after this book was published. Reading this now felt new and different, and I really really liked it.
