This book was December's Sapphic Book Club read hosted by @sapphicliterature.

Actual rating: 2.5 stars
Honestly, I hate leaving negative reviews but I don't have much positive to say about this book. I found the writing and the plot uninteresting with a lot of unnecessary details, and the stalker from the description was an absolutely-not-scary cliché at best and an ableist cliché at worst.
edit: I forgot to mention some annoying writing quirks, like constantly switching POVs and using four different epithets for the same person on one page. Nothing huge, but I feel like this book could have used a more thorough editing.
That being said, if you like slowburn f/f romance/crime stories with rockstars and bodyguards, you might like it better than I did.
Trigger warning for casual drug use (though not addiction), panic attacks, mention of abusive relationships, stalking... some ableist remarks regarding the stalker.

It's like this book had everything I like in one place? Like, wow.
Aliens / superheroes, secret identity ✓
Sapphic romance ✓
Boss/employee age difference romance ✓
Fake dating and PINING ✓
One of them is a single parent ✓
Supportive and positive adoptive families (multiple!) ✓
Close female friendship ✓
Nerdy protagonist and cute/funny clothes ✓
LI has complex relationship with both identities ✓
LI’s kid adores MC’s superhero identity ✓
Queer side characters ✓
Complex plot with both romance and mystery/action ✓
Alien having to hide non-human traits, failing ✓
Addresses social issues like racism ✓
Fits one of my reading challenges! ✓
That. Line. Reading. Scene. ✓
The only negative thing is that Gwen was about to call herself bisexual and use the word and Ava literally interrupted her about how labels aren’t important? Like, that scene could have been handled better. But that’s all my complaint for the entire book.

This was a really interesting take on the Robin Hood myth, with a cast of gay and bisexual men, as well as a trans woman. I liked the different reactions from the side characters, the dynamics within the Merry Men, and the portrayal of the persecution they had to escape. I also appreciated the short introduction to England's queer history at the end of the volume.
Nem volt rossz könyv, de a nyelvezetet nem tudtam megszokni, és igazából a rejtély sem volt annyira érdekes, hogy pénzt költsek a többi részre. Majd talán egyszer könyvtárból.
I read this book in one day. It was really interesting how the author wrote a story around the strange photos from the past. That being said, I don't have much to say about it? I liked it, but didn't /love/ it. I have the second book as well so I guess I'll read that, and then I'll see if I want to continue with the third.
Uhm. Holy shit? Wow?
For a 25-page short story, this sure packed a big emotional punch. I'm kinda crying.

I reviewed this book on my blog during the 12 Days of Clink Street Publishing event. I am grateful to have been invited. You can read my full review here.
My favourite quote from the book: I like a man I can converse with on an equal footing. How is your knowledge of new technologies and industrial progress?

This was an incredibly creative and well-written sci-fi retelling of a Biblical story I am only sort of familiar with. I can't really judge it from a religious or even a retelling perspective since I don't really know the original, but as a sci-fi novella it was great, and it even had a happy/positive ending, so fuck yes to all of this.
An imaginative picture book with bored princesses, real and fake dragons, and... everyone is named after tea-related things for some reason? It's worth reading it just for Jenny in that bridesmaid dress.
I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Harriet just moved to a new place with her parents, and she doesn’t have any friends yet. Her parents work a lot, so she spends most of her time at home trying to amuse herself, or talking to her old neighbour downstairs, Pearl. She makes up stories and pretends that she has more friends than she does. She wonders if the floor upstairs is haunted by a ghost, and writes letters to it just in case it exists. Also, she has multiple sclerosis.
If you are looking for a quiet, quick read, then I definitely recommend this graphic novel.
