This was my fastest DNF in a while, but the style and the main character annoys me, and I just don't think I need this right now.

I received an ARC through NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Unfortunately, this book just wasn't for me. I'm just a bit too young for the nostalgia, and I don't know enough about creating videogames to really understand or keep up with the metaphors. I also couldn't get used to the formatting of the dialogue lines, they just got lost in the other text for me.

It's a kind of melancholic, thoughtful book about three queer/trans friends, with lots of trans side characters. I think it will find its readers.

Look, I have no problem with erotica. I read erotica. But I expect something else besides sex, like idk, banter, pining, literally any characterization? I got halfway in this book and there has been nothing but sex after sex, and for me it's just a bit repetitive. The two main characters have 0 personality traits other than being horny.

Sajnos abszolút nem bírja az agyam, így központozás nélkül összefolyik az egész és csak érthetetlen szavak serege.

I got to 42%, but unfortunately I was bored, and I wasn't vibing with the body horror/gore, so I decided to put it down.

I received a copy through NetGalley and my review is voluntary and honest.

Unfortunately, I made it one quarter into this book, but it didn't manage to make me care about any of the characters or the world, and I found myself skimming more than actually reading, so I don't think I would like to continue. I think switching POV every chapter made it difficult to actually get to know or care about any of the characters, and there was too much worldbuilding information to process at once. But I also just didn't find either the dialogue or the descriptions very engaging.

To say something positive, my favourite POV from the parts I read was Ilumi, a young woman who leaves her tribe to move into the city and prove her intelligence and skill. I liked the descriptions of her culture shock on her first visit to Luminocity.
