This was a dystopia/fantasy adventure that went in a completely different direction than I expected. I really liked the worldbuilding and the mythology of the world, and the main character had some really quotable lines.

It's actually pretty cool how the songs and music videos go with the graphic novel, too.

this was even better than the first one!! the art style is so much more expressive and I can't wait to see everything that happens

oh wow. some really interesting twists here

this was so good!! it's about a girl in this school where weird supernatural things keep happening, and I love chill she is about it, and I actually kind of want to continue this

this was okay, but it kinda lacked the magic for me

I liked how shamelessly bisexual Apollo was, and there were many, many mentions of this throughout the book - although the main one is a pretty tragic love story that did NOT end well, so ehhh

I also appreciated the tragic story with his son and how he realised that maybe he fucked up a little too

overall, Apollo's character was neat. there was an elderly F/F couple with an adopted daughter, which was also neat.

there are some questions I still want answered but I kinda don't want to read the next book so we'll see

aaaah!! okay, first of all: the art style? legendary. everyone is so cute and beautiful and colourful, and everyone has differently coloured hair, and it's just so PRETTY!

there is also a main F/F couple with some rivalry-complications, lots of music and lyrics and stage outfits, and siblings sticking together.

that being said, I'm not really into the plot yet. competition rivalry is one thing, but I don't like girls sabotaging each other to the point of injuring, and honestly I'm not even sure who Clash is? it doesn't seem like she's /in/ the band so like??

otherwise, this was a typical first volume: just enough to get me interested, but not much more on its own.

as for genre, it mostly has a contemporary-feel, but it also has a sci-fi twist with the holograms, so there's that

I really liked this, actually. From a LGBTQAI+ viewpoint, the "cis men die and cis women take over" plot is pretty simplistic, but I liked the twists on the curses and how the women solved their troubles without fighting. It was also full of pop culture references, which... sometimes fit, sometimes not. I mean, Tangled? Sure. Hamilton? Maybe. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air??? Uhhhh...

okay this was kinda messed up

I have complicated feelings about this
