The Loop: How Technology Is Creating a World Without Choices and How to Fight Back
DID NOT FINISH: 28%
It just didn’t hold my attention
fast-paced
I thought the premise was super interesting but it turned out poorly. The concept sounded like an interesting thriller. What we got was a story FULL of plot holes and a lot of transphobia. One of the main characters is a trans woman who spends the ENTIRE book being abused, misgendered, and no one that is transphobic (including her abusive spouse) face any real backlash or consequences. In addition, the premise becomes that she is obsessed with becoming the cisgender main character. Overall none of “twists” felt exciting and the drastic choices by all characters made absolutely no sense.
Graphic: Transphobia
Moderate: Domestic abuse, Stalking
Minor: Homophobia, Rape
