I didn't dislike this one but started it on a whim and have no motivation to finish it. Maybe I'll come back to it one day.
I wasn't disliking it but it wasn't holding my attention. Book club pick that I didn't get a chance to finish before the meeting so there was no motivation to go back.
Maybe one day I will finish an Ali Hazelwood romance. Today is not that day.
No issue with the book but the eARC I received had no text only pictures so I couldn’t actually read it 😂
There was just nothing drawing me in for this one. The writing was pretty dry and bland.
This book was incredibly dull. Nothing made me want to root for any of the characters. The dialogue did not match the time period.
Really blatant fatphobia immediately upon starting the book that continued. Added nothing to the story.
This book seemed like a cheap grab at political events of 2020 but demonized trauma responses and mental health issues in a lesbian couple.
The Lady and Her Monsters: A Tale of Dissections, Real-Life Dr. Frankensteins, and the Creation of Mary Shelley's Masterpiece
DID NOT FINISH: 35%
This book is well researched but so far very little about the writing of Frankenstein or Mary Shelley. It is most about things going on in anatomy and science experimentation at the time. If you’re subject matter then you’ll probably like this but if you are looking for information on the formation and writing of the book itself, you can keep moving.
During a scene in the first few pages where she is being attacked, she reflects on why she didn't have to "put up" with that type of behavior from a man, one of which being that she is "mixed" so she has "long, full hair". *cue eye roll*. On to the next book.
Graphic: Domestic abuse
Moderate: Gun violence
