I have enjoyed this book so much! Definitely a 5 Star read for me. D’Vaughn and Kris are so easy to love and root for. They feel like authentic characters and the banter of their family and friends made me laugh constantly.
I think this is the first rom com that I’ve been ever really annotated and that was a unique experience. It is a bit of a slow burn on the spice but it’s a true contemporary romance through and through. Love and comedy without the overdramatic stress.
My only slight was the show they are on is kind of messed up, like convincing your family that you’re getting married just to win money? 😬
But I love a fake dating trope so I was definitely on board.

(4.5) I really enjoyed this book! A surreal, absurdist take on dystopia America that feels just a bit too relatable to the current. Some parts of this book literally made me laugh out out loud. At its core, it is a romance, tropes and all, but that is the least of its substance. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
