3.75 stars but just missed the mark for me. I wanted more exploration of who she was and the reimagining other than a sanitized storytelling. Maybe I knew most of tbe things she discussed.

However I would listen to this again. It was quick an easy. The real meet for me, was the manifesto.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s part memoir with a little DC neighborhood history and really speaks to the heart of mothering but also mothering while black, when you’re the only one in a white washed parenting group. I’m neither black nor a mother so I enjoyed the peak into perspectives I’ll never have but hopefully can gain empathy from.

What a roller coaster. I knew I liked this book the minute I opened it but, I also grew to resent the characters and cheer against them. Trauma bonds ain’t cute.
